Their dynamic was fun to watch. And I think when Johnny pictures his own daughter he sees her a lot like Devon. Opinionated, passionate, determined, dedicated but the truth is while Devon has grown as a fighter she's not where Tory and Sam are. But she wanted to compete in the Seikai Taikai so badly and Johnny went to bat for Devon because he'd probably do that for his own daughter and I think Devon has grown as a fighter she's not quite ready for this competition and I think she'll confess what she did to take Kenny out of the competition.

@@jacklynlawson yea I fully agree with you about how Johnny sees Devon and how she’s not on the other girl’s levels, and although it sucks that Kenny isn’t in, I think a potential reason why the writers chose to add Devon to the roster of 6 instead of Kenny was to actually maintain a Girls representation in Miyagi Fang for the Sekai Taikai. If you think about it, following the loss of Tory to Cobra Kai, adding in Kenny would mean 5 boys and only one girl being Sam, so I think from that perspective, it kind of makes sense to have had her make the cut. But I’m sure they’ll have something in store for Kenny, after giving some spotlight to Devon (rlly wish they could both be in together if that was possible)

i think people underestimate devon a lot, i think out of all 3 girls she has the most potential because she “never makes the same mistake twice” which has been seen in her fights like when she was fighting tory in cobra kai she got attacked by a move and failed to block it but then in the next round of the fight she blocked it perfectly fine. if things like that follow up itll make her one of the strongest fighters she just needs more training in both miyagi do and cobra kai to be as strong and as well rounded as everyone else and hopefully we see that in the second part of s6 (soz for long message)

There was briefly when Chozen and Johnny went Topanga Karate well Cobra Kai now, but he was gonna abandon the mission just to get her out but Chozen held him back, as well as during the competition to see which dojo would be selected for the Sekai Taikai, when Johnny is sitting over with Hawk comforting him and Devon gets selected to fight, when she walks over to her mark she hesitates after looking over to Johnny who makes eye contact with her and looks disappointed at her (this probably adds onto a reason why she desperately doesn't want to disappoint him in s6 and felt she was backed into a conner she had to cheat, as she feels she betrayed him and their bond, probably seeing him as a father figure, given from what I have gathered, her proper father doesn't really seem to be home a lot and her mother is well deceased).

Also, you have to realize that in season 4 with eagle fang needing a female fighter, Johnny did develop a unique Sensei-Student relationship with Devon kinda like his relationship with Miguel, and I guess he was being pushy this season cuz he really wanted to root for her after not being there for her in season 5 when she was with Cobra Kai.
