So wonderful to witness johnny being free and having a lovely time outside on your farm. The 'pit ponies' never used to see the light of day when they were working (perhaps they had a week above ground per year - citation needed). But as you rightly state 'they were very hard working'. I was initially thinking how the moors (Exmoor/Dartmoor etc.) Meant the Dartmoor pony was comfortable in the extreme cold weather on the moors - then I realised that it is probably also very very cold where you are in the Netherlands eh Yvonne? It being very flat and also potentially just as windy and coldlike Dartmoor. Anyway, thanks again for a beautiful glimpse into daily life in your working stables Yvonne, and sharing with us the horsey world. It cheers me up no end thank you. What a handsome,lively boy! I had a feeling that he was the teaser when you said he was a stallion.I'm glad he gets to have some fun now and then,himself.Would be frustrating after a while,being around mares in season and never allowed to actually "hook up" with a girlfriend or two.

Very lucky little stallion that found himself in a lovely home and the best job he could ever wish for. Dartmoor ponies are such sturdy and trustworthy companions. My best pal as a child was a shetland named Tobias. My first equine friend. He was with me almost 20 years.
