I know a guy who puts a bit of salt on the horses' watermelon in the hottest months to make sure they get enough minerals because the horses sweat so much. He sprinkles it over a mix of melon, apple, and carrots, and sometimes pumpkin, too. It's fun to watch them eat it up:)

Bananas are very good for horses, I used to have a horse in a stable near Banana trees. Every time we passed they would grab at both the bananas and the big leaves. Whenever they managed to get one in their mouths they were so happy. Jane
