Johnny died on my Birthday last year and I just found out about it. I send my sympathy to his family. He had one of the purest voices I've ever heard. Saw him about 20 years ago in NJ and met him. Tried to take his picture with my husband but I had no film in the camera. Johnny found this funny. I'm glad I made him smile as he did me with his beautiful voice. I told him his voice was just as strong as it was when he first started and he told me he practiced every day. What a talent.

I grew up listening to this music I did not know anything about Johnny maestro until I listened to this song the other day and started looking up members of the band just out of curiosity. Since then I have been obsessed with knowing more about him and listening to all of his songs. I regret that I never saw him in concert. I agree that it is shameful that so many inferior singers are in the hall of fame and he is not.

I never failed to see Johnny Maestro and the Brooklyn Bridge when they were in south Florida. Even saw the droup at a private function just a few years ago. In 1969 & 1970, I was first a roadie, then road manager for the BB. I just dug out an old scrapbook from a long bus tour and our trip to LA where they cut a song for a movie called "The Grasshopper" @ the old Sam Goldwin studios. We also played Disneyland and I think I have a pic of either Artie or Joe at the Universal Studios tour. I think we stopped on the way to play New Year's Eve in Houston. There were 5 or 6 stages and I'm pretty sure one stage was Fats Domino. I do have a pic of Artie & me that night. Then thereafter playing Vegas opening for Carol Channing. The roadies were a revolving door, and I was passed the briefcase when Danny tired of the road. But the greatest moment of all was one night on the bus when Ritchie got out an acoustic guitar and Johnny, Freddie, Les, and Mike brought the 60's back to life! I will always cherish those times.
