He should have been a super star. This song under scores the amazing voice he was blessed with.

Maestro's voice is one of the unique ones of the doo wop era. he had the ability to bring one to their feet or bring tears to their eyes. the emotion he delivered made him a star among stars. his version of "sweetest one" does both as well as this song. thank you for the post.

This song was written by Carole King and Gerry Goffin and has been recorded by several singers (male and female). It seems more like a man's song to me, and this version by Johnny is, by far, the best one. The emotion and passion in his voice are incomparable, and he recorded the song in just one take. It should have been a big hit for Johnny, but sadly, was not a hit for anyone.

I had no idea Johnny had a solo single on Buddah. Very beautiful track. I will be trying to find a copy for the vinyl library.

Once again, the voice of an angel. Singing now in the heavenly choir.Serious question. Why didn't Johnny go on to be one of the all-time greats? I feel that with the right management & production he could have been another Bobby Darin, Al Martino or even Sinatra. Al Martino started with 50's pop music, Frank was bobby sox stuff. Darin was pure rock & roll with a little NYC doo-wop & rockabilly thrown in. They all went on to different genres of music etc., and hit the big time. I know Johnny was satisfied & happy, what with the Crests & Brooklyn Bridge, but he should have been a superstar.

Amen, He is a Superstar to me.

Yes. I was noticing that BB concerts were mostly on the east coast. I am wondering they didn t do concerts throughout the whole country. I think Johnny Would have been a superstar if they had concerts in more of the United States.

maybe if johnny had a wardrobe mishap like janet Jackson did during a concert he would be in the hall of fame....what a shame!!!
@glpm71803 жыл бұрын
Don't think he needed a wardrobe mishap. Voters who recognize his talent and accomplishments would do the trick. It's simply a lack of both knowledge and respect of 50s music that's deprived this deserving, long overlooked brilliant performer his rightful place in the HOF. Shameful. His recordings were all terrific. The best lead singer of all.
