I'm in heaven watching Peter introduce a classic Open from the game's golden age. Thankyou to the R&A for putting this on KZbin.

Loved Miller's swing and confidence. He won using clubs he'd never played with before. Graphite shafts in the irons, I think a 1st at a major.

Great these films. And that sweltering summer of 76.

As Johnny Miller said in Golf Channel's - Golf Films movie, Summer of '76, the Open Championship at Birkdale represented the zenith of his carreer and the beginning of Seve's epic ascension in the sport. One was a dying comet and the other a burgeoning super nova.

To me it's past majors like this that speak to Jack's true greatness! Had he putted even average, he would've yet challenged for another major. And there's many more majors Nicklaus finished 2nd in. Of which he could've easily won. Largely due to the other all-time greats he competed against like Miller & Seve. Amazing watching Ballesteros compete at this level at 19yrs of age! And you have to feel good for Johnny Miller. Knowing how many times he lost out on winning other majors. Because of the Golden Bear's propensity to come from behind on the final day. Love watching back these old Opens!

Weiskopt was a fine striker of the ball . especially back in those days with the timber drivers

Saw Miller and Weiskoph play around 1980 at Riviera for the LA Open…..unbelievable how good they hit their irons. I saw Miller lip out a tee shot on number 6 I believe for a near ACE…..GREAT TIMES FOR GOLF

Beautiful use of long irons by all players. Today it's just driver, wedge, putter, driver, wedge, putter etc.

Severiano ballesteros is a great player. He won 5 majors during his sucessful career whether in majors or the ryder cup for europe against the usa. Then he died of the horrible disease cancer in 2011 at the young age of 54. R.i.p. your place in the history books is assured forever.

Although Seve didn’t win, it was still a great Open and Miller was one heck of a player in the 70s

He was a mature 3, wouldn't you say - it's funny though - I've watched him a lot and don't recall him behaving in this manner before, maybe because he was making more putts.

It was a '70s thing, especially for tall men. There were a few others who did it too (David Graham, Ray Floyd, Graham Marsh), and quite a few cricketers as well.
