This match tells a simply but effective story and it's an honour to watch Johnny saint at the peak of his powers, everything siant did just flowed so effortless. I bet every wrestler wishes they could do what Johnny did so well and that is wrestle

31 years have passed since the original World Of Sport wrestling federation folded. On New Year's Day 2017, a new WOS show debuted. In the crowd a young man held up....a Johnny Saint sign. That should tell you everything.

Yes, I watched almost 10 minuets of it, what a joke, just like American crap. I was amazed Saint did not have a heart attack, having to watch that!
@OldSchoolRasslin6 жыл бұрын
There wasn't a "World of Sport wrestling federation". The 2 promotions that produced events for the show were Joint Promotions (which continued into the 90s) and All-Star Promotions (which still continues today). World of Sport ended in 1985. The wrestling continued as a standalone show (just called "wrestling") until 1988.

Man, Fit was just amazing at getting heat here. All the schtick with Princess Paula, all the cheap shots and cheating, that jab at the end about British wrestlers. Plus, with all the talent and aggression, it's no wonder he was such a big deal.

Back when they treated wrestling as a real sport, I love it! There not trying to push two roided up cartoon characters as being fighters, they're just having two legitimate tough guys, technical masterminds, go at it! This is as real as it gets.

Oh c'mon, Reigns vs Rusev wasn't that bad XD.

I appreciate this style too. Finlay is a guy who deserved a much better career than he got in the US scene. At the same time though, the main event scene in UK wrestling was hardly technical. Guys like Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks could barely work. The excellent technical style moved abroad or underground because it was never properly promoted.

"wrestling from the U.K. differed from wrestling over here not as ridiculous as the cartoonish wrestling we had from WWE, however the other areas were more believable but we're just as outlandish at times, but wrestling from the U.K. and Europe were more about wrestling as a sport and not as entertainment and not as unbelievable characters, this match does have some a little of theatrics in it at times Finlay became quite popular in the states wrestling in the WCW and WWE but he got involved in American style of wrestling storylines, a very good match however Finlays valet/wife was quite an annoyance,Thanks for this video."-😎.🇬🇧🇺🇸🇳🇫🇪🇪.

Yes - Paula was a waste of time just getting in the way. Only there to antagonise the crowd. I've seen her hit Finlay a few times and also remember when she often distracted him and lost a fall as a result. This manager / manageress business was such a farce - Gorgeous George Gillett and Charles McGhee.

New to World of Sport and prime era Finlay and wondering...were they playing up the Belfast thing with Finlay as an ethnic heel? Noting the "Native American" valet, it seems like they might have been going for that overall.
@OldSchoolRasslin6 жыл бұрын
Not really. Belfast was part of the UK, and I'm fairly sure Finlay was a protestant (it's a Scottish name). They played off the Irish thing a lot more with Giant Haystacks in the feud with Big Daddy. It was fairly subtle though.

To be specific, the Admiral-Lord Mountevans Rules you see here were created after the increasingly violent "All In" style of wrestling was condemned, and in some places banned in the 1930s. The idea was to formalise British wrestling under a set of unified rules, and they were accepted by almost all wrestling promotions in Britain.
