Zigzag Hitching is a decorative and practical way of preventing ropes from chaffing. Nowadays, it is more often used as a decorative covering knot. so #LetsGetKnotting

Personally I would put a Turks Head over the ends, just a neater way of finishing it off. Whenever I see a Turks head, I always wonder what it is hiding underneath it. Here is a simple Turks head to learn: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bKGvYXt-jsich8U

Thank you so much for the simple easy to follow tutorials. May I request a tutorial on an 8 strand little lump knot. I havent seen any video tutorials on that one. Thanks again.

Hi Johnny! Love your videos. What is the solution you use to finish it off? I’m guessing it is to seal, protect, and hold it all together. Thinking of wrapping the entire helm wheel on my sailboat.

This looks great to put on a round handle to give it a profile and direction.

Yes, I personally like multi strand hitching as it fills the non-decorative area with more cord.

You said you would tell us the amount of cord you used to Correa certain distance thanks John

It is often hard to calculate.................. as a rule of thumb for decorative work, I calculate about 1 inch need about 1 foot of cordage.

OOOO I was going to ask you to do this hitch! I am having trouble getting it tight. I have a whip I did this on! Thank youuuuu

I am sure, having seen your work, you have no problems with any knots!!! I personally can do a lot of knots, but one that I have never been able to achieve is the single strand Matthew Walker.

Nooo I have issues with getting this one tight. I'm excited to try it using your instructions

Let me know how you get on?

Johnny Debt of course! I think another thing that made it more of a challenge is, I was using Paracord with no strands inside. It seems to make everything harder when it's flat as opposed to round. :/. What is this finishing solution? Intrigued....

I am going to send you a link of to try explaining the MW knot over in facebook. I will give it a shot myself after work and see if I can get it. between the 2 of us, we can figure it out ill bet. I kind of like it, it looks less bulky than a turkshead...so you think I need. foundation under it to keep it in place like I do a Turkshead?

Got any good videos on coachwhipping? That's something I struggle with.
@KnottingKnots7 жыл бұрын
Ah yes, that is also one that I struggle with. I will certainly learn to do it properly and then hopefully show a video that gives some good tips on getting it right. I think Mikko Snellman has a version done with stool and a hole in the middle??

Johnny Debt cheers looks good. Feels like cheating though using a stool with a hole.
@KnottingKnots7 жыл бұрын
Personally, I think that anything that helps you. I do not think it is cheating, what you are doing is borrowing from another form of weaving, Kumihimo?

I put ringbolt hitching over the handles of small hooks that I use, being sure to align the ridging with the hook's business end. After doing so, the ridging serves as a tactile signal of the hook's direction - allowing me to focus on the work, as opposed to the tool.
@KnottingKnots7 жыл бұрын
Now that is interesting, not sure what you mean, but do you have a photo?
@dankolar60667 жыл бұрын
The beak of the hook is inline with the ridge of the hitching. The smooth turns rest against the palm of the hand. The ridging nest against the inner face of the fingers. The beak of the hook faces your knuckles, and away from your palm...
