Its interesting how having proper funds and time to care about your daily habits can cause you to deviate so much from what is so culturally American. American habits are the habits of people with low funds and lacking free time, but with an abundance of materials. Naturally, the people will gravitate to the cheapest and quickest options available. It's embedded advertising. He likely has a Doritos "brand ambassadorship" -- which does not legally have to be disclosed. They pay you monthly and all you have to do is make sure their product shows up in the background somewhere, or that you mention how you use it regularly... He says his assistant is the one "keeping it stocked" -- but I guarantee you Doritos has a guy who comes in every week and stocks it for them.. I've seen on other mechanical 'garage channels where they work on cars, they have a fridge that is stocked every week with mt dew. And they are always joking about how it is always full; (because that gives them a reason to talk about it)-- but a few times, they showed the guy restocking it on camera; It's literally just a convivence store guy who goes around stocking stores, and he stops by your place on a regular schedule, just like a store. This is marketing 101; It's worth for these companies to give you a free supply of their stuff, because every time it pops up in your videos, it's like a free ad for them, and the viewers don't even realize that it has purposely been placed there. But I never imagined that he would make a video about it like this. It's a little too on the nose and he should be disclosing that it's an ad-- but I bet he won't, because it's a "brand ambassadorship like I said. smh.

Sounds like an English breakfast
@VoIcanoman Жыл бұрын
I submit that hash browns (the really skinny, shredded potato ones, not the diced potato ones that are more like small home fries) are the best breakfast food ever invented. There's nothing better for soaking up bits of egg yolk.

This has been the most successful Doritos commercial ever. Mostly their commercials are funny but Johnny has me craving Doritos all the time after watching this. I now have them for breakfast which I never would have.
@anon1832 Жыл бұрын
No need to go to either extreme, you can make an omelette in 3-5 mins. Have a banana and some bioactive unflavoured yogurt. If it's boring throw some chilli in, capsicum is good for you. Breakfast doesn't have to be some fancy Japanese dish or sugar trash. Also learning about health and nutrition helps override your body's cravings, because we also have a psychological urge to avoid being scammed and anyone selling you food is scamming you in some way at least.
@WealthofMyself Жыл бұрын
Tell me more about how learning about health and nutrition will override the body's cravings. I've practiced solid health and nutrition (think juicing, fasting, food combining, wheatgreass, raw, etc) and yet just came back from the grocery store with ONLY SUGAR AND CARBS?

A video on gluten would be interesting to me as a person with celiac. For me gluten seems to be in everything, especially with cross contamination. I’ve gotten sick from non-labeled gluten free oils and spices. Then I also get sick if people have used wheat flour in the room earlier in the day. For a while gluten free was a health craze even when people didn’t have medical conditions where they needed to be gluten free for. But then when you asked people what gluten was, they couldn’t tell you what it was but were gluten free.
@DeeEnt Жыл бұрын
I feel like Gluten allergies and Celiac are more about our body reacting with what’s sprayed on our food rather than gluten itself IIRC there was a study done and it showed that gluten allergies and celiac were 100x more present after a certain year and that correlated with the same time period that a certain chemical started being sprayed on wheat in the farms

Worth mentioning Doritos started at a restaurant in Disneyland. In the early 1960s, an Alex Foods salesman noticed that Casa de Fritos was tossing unused tortillas in the trash at the end of each day. He suggested that the cook cut the surplus tortillas into triangles, deep fry them.

Thanks for the info and the laugh - I haven't had any kind of bagged chips in over a decade, but I remember sharing Johnny's adoration of doritos for breakfast - so much so that I have to make a point of never buying them because opening a bag = eating the bag = feeling awful but wanting more lol. It truly is a perfect example of how brilliant food science is at pushing our buttons.

Doritos could be flavored in a whole new fashion , like Aero chocolate bars in Japan. Like , we could get a real selection of Doritos flavors that are more breakfast oriented. Imagine the possibilities if we just put the cheese aside for a moment 😛 PS - Monosodium glutamate also happens to be a neuro transmitter. I'm not sure how our body metabolizes it when we ingest it , but it sure would explain the clarity of mind we feel after eating some food that contains it. Also , sodium has the nasty effect of hardening our arteries for a duration , which could explain why some studies suggest that this additive it's completely safe for human consumption. As always , moderation in all things is key in maintaining a balanced life style.

Here in Canada, ketchup flavour Doritos are mind boggling. They're like this tomato-ey umami experience with a little zing and some sweetness. Instead of using a cheese/dairy seasoning base, they use nutritional yeast and tomato powder, along with MSG and the usual list of unpronounceables. I remember them growing up, but they got discontinued at some point. A few years ago, Frito-Lay brought them back as a limited time "Throwback" and have been doing so every summer. My mouth is watering just describing them, and I haven't had any in months.

Don't do the Doritos, but do add the miso soup, just don't make it the way they do. Find instructions that doesn't kill the probiotics the way they did in this video. You can get dashi stock granules instead of the dried kelp, but the important part is the refrigerated, live culture, miso paste. Miso soup is a two minute process and you can make it by the cup. They probably make a vat of it because there's a lot of people sharing that pot. It's very easy to make a single cup each day.

I read somewhere that during World War II, the Japanese military would season rotting horse meat for their soldiers with MSG. Guess this stuff makes anything taste good. If you appreciate dashi and Japanese comfort foods, check out a video/recipe for Okonomiyaki , (translates to “grilled as you like”) and is a pancake type dish made with diced seafood, egg, cabbage, and topped with delicious Japanese sauce and Mayo. It’s delicious and super easy to make … AND I absolutely love having it for breakfast!
