Urban Kayaking Pistol Creek Alcoa TN

After my morning run along Pistol Creek, I noticed the water in the creek was up. So Urban Kayaking within the City of Alcoa was formed.
I had my son dropped me off at the Alcoa Municipal Building area were we carried my kayak to the lake's edge. I suited up and launched. I paddled around the lake for a little while. Need to be careful because there are water fountain spray heads sticking up out of the water.
I paddled towards Pistol Creek and had to take out and drag the kayak around a low dam/bridge. Then the paddle/float began.
Pistol Creek runs parallel with the Alcoa-Maryville Greenway. This was such a beautiful paddle/float. I don't know why I hadn't done this sooner.
There were a couple places where trees were blocking the passage the first couple were easy to navigate but the last one was very difficult and I ended up having to drag the kayak around this blockage.
I ended at a predetermined location that was easily accessible to the road.
I think the City of Alcoa should make this a Blueway Trail. Some of the benefits of having this:
1, it would clean up the creek all the liter would be gone.
2, it would possibly be a draw for the City by having people visit the city to kayak.
3, having a Blueway Trail may allow the city to apply for other outdoor activity funded grants.

Good fishing as well! Caught a couple 3 and 4 pound largemouth. A young kid caught a 6 pounder this summer!

First, I wasn't aware of this code until the day after. So I want to add this; City of Alcoa Ordinance 20-106 Boat prohibited. It shall be unlawful to place or use any boat, canoe, raft or other vessel on either the Duck Pond or the Alcoa Corporate Center Lake; provided, however, the City Manager or the city manager's designee may waive all or part of this section in conjunction with the granting of a special event permit. In addition: This code does not apply to Pistol Creek. I'm going to reach out to Keep Blount Beautiful (non-profit) and see what steps I can do to help clean this creek up and perhaps pursue a goal of making Pistol Creek a Blueway Trail within the City of Alcoa. In regards to the above. I wasn't aware that boats weren't allowed on the Alcoa Corporate Center.

Hey Cory, I put in over at the corporate lake on Associates Blvd there by the dermatology office. I padded the lake a little while then paddled over to the dock and pulled my kayak over the greenway under the bridge and got into the creek there and paddled all the way to the mountain bike area near the Alcoa City Service Center.
