This is the quality content I love from this Chanel. I had no idea what he did wrong until he explained it. I would have screwed up my brass and had no idea how to fix it. I learn far more from the videos where he shows his mistakes than the Chanel’s that edit the videos to only show things going right.

Another video that makes me envious of those groups! FYI, Hornady sells a flatbase/attachment for the calibers. I've counterbored/relieved the center so that any extruded primer does not touch. Thus when measuring base to datum, I get no interference from a high primer or any extruded material. I also added an extension to the modified case measurement tool, so now it can be used on the AR10. .

The Lyman primer pocket reamers that come with the orange case prep multi tool, are for removing military primer crimps. I have used the small one on 223 and it works pretty good. I also bought the small decapping pins .054 with my Mighty Armory shorty bull die, I think the .054 would have cleared the flash holes no problem.

I have shot some good groups with the Ballistic Tips. They are made as hunting bullets, not match bullets. Many hunters have told me that they do not get good results on medium game. They have had to track their animals more than other hunting bullets. If you hunt and want Nosler use their Accubond or Partition bullets. Both kill reliably.

@@PC-vq5ud I am a avid deer hunter. I have taken many whitetail deer with ballistic tip bullets. Deer up to 200 lbs. out to 300 yards. Never lost one, but a few went a short distance before falling. Great vid! Hard to go wrong with 308 Lapua Palma SR, Sierra, and 8208...👍. One thing for people to consider is that the SR primer is not a good option in larger cases for hunting in regions with cold temps. Anything below 40F and it’s wise to use LR primer brass (both in 6.5 CM and 308) to ensure reliable ignition.

In my Krieger bbl on Rem 700, these 165g TGK like to be seated very close to the lands, if not barely touching the lands. Tiny groups are the result from barely touching the lands. I have a "Palma" chamber in my Krieger that has a short freebore, perfect for these kinds of bullets, also the 155g TMK also shoots tiny groups. Also, best accuracy was right at a max load, and I am using Lapua brass. Primer brands do matter when trying to achieve very small groups.

Good information on the Game Changer. Just bought some to try out. My 308 AR-10 with 168g Match Kings, shoots really tight groups using 42.2g of RE-15 (less then one inch out of a mid range priced AR-10). Yet I have not had close to the same results with Game Kings. Since the Game Changer bullet is closer to the Match King in design I'm hoping to see some tighter groups with it.

In my rifle with short freebore, the Tipped 165g Game king shoots a bug hole group WHEN seated very close to the lands with several different powders, IMR 8208, H4895, Ball C2, Benchmark, and R15. With the long freebore factory rifle, the standard NON vld type of bullets, 150g Hornady btsp, 165g Sierra btsp, shoots bug hole groups also jumping quite a ways. I am leary of shooting a vld bullet in a long freebore chamber which will take some trial and error. The Hornady 165g BTSP should not be over looked as one heck of a good killing bullet on large deer and hogs. For extreme cold weather, I have reamed out the small flash hole brass to a large flash hole which fixes any of the hang fire issues with no effect on group size.

@JohnnysReloadingBench 5 жыл бұрын
It's the Hornady Headspace Gauge Kit. amzn.to/2RXFTTU Comes with the body and five inserts that cover most cartridges. It is not angled...just a certain diameter hole. For 308, the hole is .400" and measures to that point on the shoulder. If you go check out the SAAMI drawing for .308, you'll see that's the spec of the headspace datum line for that cartridge. Most of the common cartridges are one of the five sizes included in the kit: .330"/.350"/.375"/.400"/.420"

I'm asking if you might try the 100gr Sierra Varminter JHP with an older powder? I'm thinking maybe IMR 3031 or something similar that has been around for a long time and is pretty cheap to use a lot. I'd like to see if it's possible to come up with a load that can reach the neighborhood of 2650 ft/sec without a huge compressed load and a 100gr bullet. (H322 might be a good one but I don't know, I don't have much experience with reloading).

when are you going to do the 129SST bullets in 6.5CM that you kept saying would be next ever since you bought the TC? If you need a challenge get a gas operated 243WIN, powder fill for a bolt gun is somewhat hard to do, but slow burn powders can unlock the bolt to soon on a gas operated rifle, and can damage a rifle. I have not seen a comparison yet of the difference in accuracy you would get between Starline Brass and the ubiquitous Range Brass brands. When purchasing from Starline, the fact that you only have to tumble to remove oils is minimal brass-prep, in anyone's mind. Is there a definate benefit in accuracy with Starline? Jaime Willard I have no advice on the scale, but you can definitely convert a battery only scale to use an AC adapter. That said, there should be no noticeable difference in the same scale between using batteries and an ac adapter. They are basically using a Wheatstone bridge to measure subtle changes in voltage due to resistance changes across a strain gauge.
