The Coveted Kingsway & Old Mill | Toronto Walk

A mostly residential Toronto walk around the exclusive The Kingsway neighbourhood. I start at Royal York Station and head up to Bloor Street. I then walk around a number of residential streets including Royal York Road, Kingsgrove Blvd, Strath Avenue, The Kingsway and Kingsway Crescent. I finish up by heading along Old Mill Road past the Old Mill to the Humber River.

I'd definitely like to see more residential walks Johnny. The Kingsway is one of the nicest neighbourhoods in Toronto. I hope you do another CNE video this year. I'd love to see a visit to the buildings where they have the animals, providing they still do that. It's been years since I was there.

Yes to residential walks. Would like to see one in the neighbourhood East of Riverdale Park. Lots of historical homes in that area and some prominent Canadians lived in those blocks.

One of Lucy Maude Montgomery's books (Jane of Lantern Hill) takes place around 1900, in it a rich old lady living in Yorkville is asked by her friends why she doesn't move to the "new suburb" of the Kingsway - much more affordable! Look at it now! LOL.

Johnny, are you allowed to get a 4K walk through video of the Old Mill inside the area's? I can't find a video like that and am really surprised......you should talk to the management or owners there about shooting a video for them. On another topic why did you say the best place to live in Canada is Peterborough? I'am living here now, and it's so far from anything in Toronto. The transit stops here are barely visible from the roads even and the roads here oh my lordy? It's pothole city here. Love how the weathliest places in T.O. have SO many tree's, this video oh my gosh, the tree's look better than in Rosedale. In Peterborough they have so many roads that are like riding a beach wave and so many on 45 degree angles, and Water St. oh my crap. It's a crap road.

Johnny, the more you walk, the more baffled I get aboutToronto. Posh neighborhood no question. But are these houses absolutely fireproof? I've never lived anywhere with less than two fire hydrants per block. I have seen just one. In this century, I think trucks need to tap into the community water supply to put out a fire. Maybe Kingsway extinguishes fires in a more modern way? Maybe every house includes a sprinkler system?

Hard to find the exact appropriate walk. But when the Toronto tubers check prices of houses and find them stratospheric, I miss the conversation that my home ownership wants to hear. Do apartment dwellers have the slightest concept of what an "affordable" house really costs? We paid what TO dwellers would consider unbelievably cheap. Bu then the "fun" began. Because cost of ownership is a high multiple of purchase cost. Never mind the interest on the loan, we learned that there is a gaping hole behind purchase cost, the need to own all sorts of machines we never had as apartment dwellers. And the taxes. And the regulations that only apply to owners. My best summary description is a black hole ready to swallow anything you can possibly earn. I wish I had a spreadsheet for all the money required to be a homeowner. GTA homeowners know it very well.

Graceful, mature trees, always a good sign. Better than graffiti & scaffolding! Been clearing out the brown stuff in my own little Leylandii row's 'dead zone'. 10 Years, about 30' high. The way Canadians despise each other - 'pitchforks' - turnin' into the USA..!
