I literally just did this in 30mins. Was dreading the removal of all the stuff noted in other vids. Awesome video👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽 Prying out the panel can be a little tricky and require a little force.

Yea the plastic tabs could break if not careful and depending how brittle as well. But yea nice to be able to do it this way verses the whole side coming off. 👍🏼😀

That’s all I did. Some have to remove the whole panel which is a big process. Not sure why some are different.

I put a custom homemade fiberglass box with a 12 used the factory amp for output to a 2500 mono block and a 4 channel for all 4 doors and left the center and pillers on the factory sounds awesome 👌

Is it correct to say, “UNLESS YOU HAVE A 2003”? 😭 I have a 2003 and I believe the entire rear panel has to be removed.

Just so some people are aware before trying to go this route is that this cover is plastic welded where it clips on. So potentially after install there could be rattle coming from there.

Yea if going for a lot of power I would maybe do the whole panel. I haven’t changed the amp.

I cut the welds with a razor. Their is enough grab from the mounts to keep mine from rattling.

What did you put around the back of the sub before install?

It’s foam padding so it doesn’t rattle. That material was included with the sub.

Was the amp replaced? If not, same wattage power even if you dropped the ohms a bit.

No stock amp… less power now since that speaker needs a decent amount of wattage to start sounding good.

@@johnnysweekends replace the amp. I know a few audio controls have the audio input converters to line level and a decent RMS wattage to run that sub. You'll love it!

I thought about it. But because I have the JBL everything is a little harder of a swap. Sometimes the simple stuff is easier lol

Yes I had the jbl system so you want the sub to have the dual voice coil..👍🏼

@@johnnysweekends thanks, unfortunately the 2008 doesn’t come apart so easily. My girlfriend’s sub just blew. You may be able to help me I see 2 and 4 ohm options for replacements some are almost 2x the cost the same size and wattage.. can you shed some light on this?

@Ctylerr93 no reason for the more expensive sub as the system doesn’t have enough power to power a more powerful sub or at a lower ohm. If you plan to upgrade the whole system then sure get the sub that can drop to two ohm. But if not cheaper will be more than wnough
