I bought my first Harley Davidson motorcycle, the Sportster Iron 883, and rode it home on the highway for the first time ever! And guess what...I stalled on the highway!! lol.
This is my initial review of the 2021 Harley Sportster Iron 883. It's my own personal review, and I do realize it may change a year from now...
Stay tuned because I show my full highway ride with lane splitting and I give my thoughts on the bike! Ride safe!

Good video. I bought the exact same bike back in August, did the same as you. Lots of back and forth watching videos and test sitting on bikes. I got the 883 for looks and comfort, don't need a ton of power and I don't do long trips so it's great.

Thanks for the ride Brother. I know you will enjoy this bike like i did when i first bought mine. I had to ride 65 miles on interstate I-71 in Kentucky. Probably the most bumpy interstate in the USA!! By the time i got home, i felt like i had rode a bucking mule bareback for 65 miles...But since then, i have had the suspension softened up a little. It's now perfect.

I may of commented already, however, u made a great choice IMO! My son bought the 2020 883, and it is one of the best looking HD. We did upgrade to the engine to the 1200, he does a lot of freeway. Beautiful bike, great ride. Glad u still love it!

I know you posted this about a year ago but great video man. I got my 22 iron 883 last year. It’s been a year and I held off on buying upgrades until I was sure I would be keeping it. Completely fell in love with the bike. It takes some time to get use to it. It’s definitely an old school bike built today.

When you get bored with the 883, I highly suggest a s&s 1250 or Hammer Performance 1275. I bought a 2018 1200 in 2019 and it now has an s&s 1250 with Feuling cams,lifters,valve springs, Hammer Performance solid pushrods, Buell bronze oil pump gear, tbr 2-1, v&h fp3, s&s teardrop intake and a load of suspension, clutch, electrical, ergonomic and aesthetic upgrades. I enjoyed the bike when it was relatively stock, but it's an absolute blast now. I have some videos on my page of it over the time upgrading it!

Very accurate review. I have a 2017 883. The power is fine. Best thing is changing out your seat. The stock seat sucks. I got a Saddleman solo seat. Changing out the mufflers also helps with fun factor. Just any slip-on will do. I have Pythons.

@@jamalymall Yeah, it sits you back couple inches it does make it more comfortable. Only downside is the seat is almost flat. So it's not going to help if you have issues sliding back. It does have a "lip" at the back but, no backrest at all. If you look up Saddleman solo seats you will see the one I'm talking about. It's longer. It's actually called the Saddleman Renegade.

I know what you mean about the 12oo tank. I just couldn’t do that motorcycle because of the styling of it. I could have managed around the bars and such but the tank is just not for me at all. So I went with the black, iron, 883 like yourself. Love my 883! Still riding mine a year later and just put a stage 1 on it.

Robby clark Im thinking about getting the iron 883 for my first bike. How much is the stage one kit for the iron 883?
@robbyclark6915
@robbyclark6915 2 жыл бұрын
@@mikeanderson2152 I put a stage one on my iron 883 for less than a grand. I went through DK customs and got a high flow breather, breather bolts, and the xl-vied devices that regulate the air/fuel mixture for your stage 1. You can get a tuner instead but it costs a lot more. The xl-vieds were about $150 and a tuner is $400-500. I got my slip ons on sale from Dennis Kirk, but you have to catch something on sale. DK has twin slash Vance & Hines for $500 and that’s a very good price. The vieds also don’t void the Harley warranty like a tuner will. The stage 1 made a big difference in the performance of my bike. I know some people don’t see much difference but it’s because of the equipment they’re using. If you get sleeping Eagle stuff from Harley you won’t get the performance increase you want because they have to stay inside EPA guidelines and DK customs does not. Good luck! A good stage 1 is definitely worth.

I think on the Sporty, you feel the road more and maybe a little vibration, not much but riding the wide glide is, due to its weight and 34-degree rake a lot smoother. My mother still does not know why I have two bikes, but if she rode, she'd know.

My 883 is pretty much stock with the exception of Vance and Hines twin slash exhaust. I live in FL and my bike easily keeps up on the highway at 75-80 mph with the occasional 95 ;) maxes it out once at 115 mph. Just bought an FP3 and a monster sucker from Arlen ness. Let’s see what that will bring.

You went from a Grom to an 883? I would put the mirrors back where they belong, and get some pipes and a tuner on it. Put 4" risers on the bars, they fit without having to change any cables or brake hose. Makes it much more comfortable. My 2006 1200L has the stock shocks and even after 16 years they are still fine. I'm 6' 240, and my weight and the weight of the bike help a lot with bumps.

Well even though Harley went with rubber mounts in 2007 from the solid engine mounts previous, they still shake , that's what they have been doing for many many years , it's part of the Harley Davidson mystic. If you wanna increase your range , a 4. 5 gallon tank swap is very common on the sportster. I am doing that swap on my wife's 48 special which had the even smaller 2.1 peanut tank .
