John, when I compare the two, I come up with this: Vocals: Taka for sure, not too many vocalists can hit the notes and sing anything as well as him. But little bro is great! Bass: Hands down MFS! I don’t think Ryota is that great of a bassist. Most good bassists could replace him but the MFS bassist is ridiculous! Drums: I think it’s a tie between Tomoya and the drummer from MFS. Guitar: MFS for sure. I love Toru but the guitarist for MFS is so much better technically. As far as talent, the only real hard edge One Ok Rock has over MFS is the vocalist. If you didn’t know there are 2 things to consider: Japan has the biggest music industry in the world after the US. Most Japanese musicians in bands play more than one instrument, that’s how much time and talent they promote to their musicianship. Both bands are high energy and you’d get your money’s worth whichever concert you’d go to.
