Thanks for this information. As an almost total non Japanese speaker I wouldn't have a clue about their pronunciation. Jungkook really works hard on his pronunciation of different languages. Fim out, Your Eyes tell and Crystal Snow are my fave Japanese tracks of BTS. Film out is as marvelous as the other two but if I am totally honest, I am not a big fan of what they did with the track in post production. Jungkook and V sound great, with fairly natural and organic sounding intact vocals, but the bridge part with Jimin and Jin in it, that is supposed to be a climax of the whole song got such heavy loads of auto tune and vocal distortion effects it sounds almost unpleasantly shrill at places which is pity because Jin and Jimin could shine equally great even without the unnecessary processing of their vocals. It boggles me why they decided to do that .... it is only my opinion of course, other people may enjoy the piercing screech affect, a personal preference is always personal, lol. Jin has proven once again that Japanese language truly loves his voice, he sounds always super duper great in Japanese!

This song is an OST for a Japanese movie, Signal. The movie is based on a series by the same name which, in turn, is a remake of the Korean series of the same name. I haven't watched the Japanese version of the series or the movie, but I have watched the Korean series and I highly recommend it. Especially if you're into police procedurals with a slight bit of fantasy on the side. The MV for this song has a ton of references to the plot of both the movie and the series. It also shares some themes with the BU and a number of people think the song is related to the BU, but it's really not. I don't know how far you've gotten into the BU and I don't want to spoil it for you, so I won't go into that. Signal is about a young police profiler who finds a hand-held radio that somehow connects him to a police officer a number of years in the past. The profiler has access to the records of the cases that the police officer worked on and is able to inform the man in the past about what happened, so that he can change things. Sometimes that has good outcomes and sometimes it has bad ones. Both men are still moving through time as normal, so the cop in the past gets exactly one chance to make things better. If he fails, everyone, past and present, have to live with the results. The profiler is part of an investigative team lead by a female police officer. She was a rookie, working under the cop in the past when some of this goes on. The cop in the past disappears and she has spent years trying to find out what happened to him. I think JK is supposed to be the cop in the past while Jin is the profiler in the present. I also think Taehyung is playing the part of the female officer. Jin looks through a window which shows all of the members, including himself, and he has an hourglass that is mostly full. JK is never on the other side of the window and he has an hourglass as well, but the sand is almost out in that one. Taehyung is alone, but he also looks through the window at the past. There are a number of other clues, but I'd have to get into more detail about both the series and the BU to highlight the differences and I'd rather not give major spoilers for either one. It's a great series and a beautiful song, as well as a very meaningful video in the context of the movie or series. The Korean version of the series is on Netflix, if you're interested in watching it.

Thanks for the explanation! I had heard some ARMY say it was based on BU which I’ve never gotten into. But the movie sounds so interesting. I hope I can find on Netflix K-dramas. BTW, my favorite one is “The Magic of Music.” How about you? Again thanks for information. 💜
@psychokitty712 жыл бұрын
@@sandyaz5595 You're welcome! I like mysteries, police procedurals and scifi/fantasy shows, so Signal is actually one of my favorites. Another one is Bring It On, Ghost! It's about a man who can see and physically interact with ghosts. He works as an exorcist and ends up meeting a female ghost who becomes his partner. They solve the mysteries of some of the spirits they encounter, including figuring out what happened to the female ghost. It's fun, interesting, and a bit scary at times. I was disappointed when it ended. There's also a Japanese series called Black that I really enjoyed. That one is a bit complicated. It involves murder mysteries, searching for a spirit hiding in a human body, and Death spirits. It has a lot of humor in it, too.

Some have said that "Film Out" can theoretically be part of the BU/BTU (Bangtan Universe), for even though the visuals in the MV (with sci-fi & fantasy aspects) are attributed to the "Signal" movie, as the movie also has a time travel premise in it, this song could also be adapted to the BU, for as you have seen, Jin seems to be a central character again just as he was in past BU-related MV's. And as you are already aware, BTS are one of those bands out there that can sing in at least 4 languages (Korean, Japanese, English, Chinese/Mandarin), although you can also add some Spanish & whatever else I missed.

Film out is said to be part of the Bangtan Universe storyline - The Revelations. You should try to watch XCeleste’s breakdown of the MV scenes. Also, the doors in the MV has a lot of representations. Remember the BTS and ARMY logos? 😊

Now that we know bcs of jin’s vlive where he mentioned that BE was the album after which jin was gonna enlist in the military….. even in this song jin is at the other side of the room not with the 6 members …. And at the end he disappeared…So this song is all about their feelings jin going to military and all their feelings about how they all r feeling about all these changes which were gonna take place…. 🥺 I loved this song the moment i heard it but now I love it more and more💜

Glad to see you liked this live performance so much!! When I was getting into bts, this is one of the first live performances I watched and it made me realise damn these guys can REALLY sing. It blew me away. I have a huge soft spot for this video, it really showcases their talents so well.

The best song EVER!! I agree with you about the reason not to create a total English album. The biggest reason tho - the poeticism, the illteration , the wordplay, of the Korean+English is so deep, wide, and profound. that all gets lost in English
