Babymetal's first professional costumes. Before this video, the girls had to supply their own. Releasing this song also is when they started to do headline performances. Big steps for them

The neck brace is the training wheels of Babymetal to learn the ways of the metal culture... but also a reference to X-Japan's drummer/pianist/(main ?)song-writer who broke his neck while headbanging to much at shows (he had a pretty fragile body anyway, it was born to early and the doctors didn't even think he would make it). But also the neck brace is the lore of The legendary/holy neck brace from the Fox God to give them the powers to became the Metal Resistance, etc. 🙂

Great reaction. This was recorded in 2012, Su was 14, Yui and Moa were not quite 13. The song is about a girl going to her first concert on her 15th birthday - but 15 is when compulsory education ends in Japan, so the girl is realising she will no longer be considered as a child, life will never be the same and her first 15 years passed by so quickly. She is etching this special night of her 15th into her heart so she will never forget. At shows in 2014 half way through this song Su handed the mic and stand to Yui (in Paris) and Moa (in Cologne) and they took over lead vocals for the last part of the song to celebrate their own 15th birthdays. The same thing happened in 2019 on Moa's 20th birthday 920 is the official coming of age in Japan). Su slipped seamlessly into their places in the choreo. The neck brace is an homage to X Japan's drummer/pianist/main composer Yoshiki - he had to have surgery and wore a neck brace after headbanging too hard. BABYMETAL have had at least 3 concerts where everybody in the audience had to wear a neck brace (The Corset festival in 2012 where 'Headbanger' was debuted in Rock May Kan, a tiny venue with a 150 capacity, the Red Night at Budokan in 2014 - I don't think the Black Night had that - and both nights at the Tokyo DOme in 2016 with 55k people each night). The coffin in the video was used in a few live shows as well - at Legend I on 6th October 2012 where the Kami Band made their debut (that would make for a good live reaction) Su was actually resting in the coffin and had to be taken out to sing 'Headbanger'.

_Hedoban hedoban_ _Ban ban ban ban!_ 🛐 You already know the live version at Legend 1997 SuMetal 16th Birthday but nonetheless this song kickass real hard. Stay tuned next August 18 coz a big collaboration is coming along with none other than living legend guitarist Tom Morello from RATM, yep, just like you heard, can't wait for it bro. Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!! is one of BabyMetal fans favorite and got special meaning too. Song is about a 15 years old girl celebrating her birthday going to her first live concert, probably metal, while having melancholy for leaving her childhood behind. It isn't about any of our girls but they embraced this song like it was made for them, you'll find many special versions of this, even when they celebrate their 20th Birthday. 15 is an important coming of age for Japanese girls, 20 is another important date. The official MV is creepy for some fans, I guess the organ church gave that effect. The "Hedoban god" is representing the metal spirit and the girls are praising so the metal spirit of the neckbrace posses their bodies, you know, is metal after all, just remember we are -NotACult- 👀 The neckbrace here is a tribute to Yoshiki from X-Japan, he's songwriter, composer, pianist and drummer, he's a living legend and a true metal god among Japanese, he hurts his neck while headbanging so hard during a live concert suffering serious injuries, he got a life of so much sadness and sacrifice but he's such a talented musician and artist, even Michael Jackson was a friend of him, so yeah he's big, that's why BabyMetal got a lot of tributes to him on early songs and live concerts. If you pay attention at the end you can see an easter egg with the red moon teasing another song called "Akatsuki" (a SuMetal solo), is another song with tribute to X-Japan, live at Budokan 2014 is one of the safest clip to react. Another song i like to recommend for first time watching an official MV is "Megitsune" because of the Japanese visual elements unlike some live versions which contain certain parts I don't like the spoilers, such the intro. But of course live is a blast like the rest of their songs. And no, she's not the one doing those growling, she's shouting at the end thou. None of the Kami Band or anyone relevant is credited for the growling parts, except for certain songs like Distortion after 2019 when Metal Galaxy came out with Alissa White-Glutz growlings. Kitsune up and see you next time John 🦊🤘🔥

Babymetal really is packed full of 'content'. Even just the use of the neck brace has 3 explanations, ('training wheels to learn headbaning', X-Japan connection and the lore build on top of that). Babymetal really is an attack on the senses in both visual and audio and physical at the live show (you can feel the beat) and the whole official Babymetal backstory, but also the real back story of the girls, I guess a mental stimulation.

I’d love to hit up Nashville on my journey. Unfortunately, that probably won’t happen due to work. I’m planning on Dallas, Vegas and LA so far. Scheduling is becoming an issue for me, but after seeing them in Tokyo (Chiba), I wouldn’t pass up any opportunity that presents itself. Enjoy US!

You should also watch the live version where Suzuka gives the mic to Moa after the scream and Moa sings the rest of the song. Just search headbanger moa and you'll find it. Would love to see your reaction to this too. Or maybe make a community post about it if you don't want to make another reaction video.

Epic as always, great reaction. A few things: 1). Be aware of live version, which, I’m sure you just watched: You will start to notice your head-banging transition to side to side. Once this occurs, there’s no cure, there is no going back, be fore-warned. 2). After transition to side-to-side head-banging, you must also do Moabanger, when Su handed off her Mic to Moa to take the lead for Moa’s 20th B-Day Concert. 😎🦊🤘

Excellent reaction, again, thanks! Yes, their early music videos were so freaking good and full of humor. Actually the girls did five commentary videos on their own music videos for "Doki Doki Morning",, "Megitsune", "Ijime, Dame, Zettai", "Iine" and this one. Those videos are so cool because they provide a ton of insight. Not bad for a 14 years old vocalist, uh? 😁 Suzuka has always had a great voice. Not to mention the way she performs... We are here because of that. Plain and simple! Until next time! 🤘🦊

When interviewed by Music Japan at that time, the three girls said that there are three types of headbang in the Headbanger MV. The first is Dogeza headbang: the headbang move Su-metal does around the beginning of the MV. The second is BabyMetal headbang: shake their head from side to side. The third is the Electric Fan headbang: the head rotates in a circle. At that time, the three girls did not know the third headbang. But in the Megitsune MV we saw them doing that third headbang. 💀😁

I don't know if you noticed the coffin stood up between all the Marshall speakers, but in early live performances they used to get Su out of the coffin for this song. If you like the early music video's you should check out the MV for Ijime, Dame, Zetaii. I don't know if you've seen the live from Sonisphere in England in 2014 but it's well worth a watch. The live from Sonisphere was their first major appearance outside Asia when Su was only 16years old and Yui and Moa had just turned 15.

Nice reaction. I love their music videos. Fun stuff in them. What do you do when you can't go to the concert? You rock out in your room blasting the tunes and singing along with them. Also showing that despite popular belief. Babymetal do actually scream from time to time. We actually get to hear Su scream twice. Once near the start and again near the end of the song. This song has a special place in the fan's hearts. As it become the special birthday song for them. Yui and Moa got the mic halfway through the song for their 15th birthdays. Sadly, Yui left before her 20th birthday. But lucky for us Moa got to do it again for her 20th birthday. This special performance became known as Moabanger. Done for the Legend M concert. Which celebrated her 20th birthday. Which is another example of Babymetals epic concerts. As Moa came to the stage from the back of the upper deck with the Babymetal logo like a pair of wings. There's next to no footage of this. I've only seen it from the Blue Ray of the concert. A great entrance. Another thing that Babymetal has done on epic levels. Check out "In The Name Of" from the Legend S concert from Su-metals 20th birthday celebration. The foxhole is deep and full of surprises.

Crimson Moon, in most of Asian countries, had similar folk legends. Something bad was about to happened when the moon turned red. A full moon would be powerful enough by itself. A fully rounded red moon had even stronger influence to the mind's of people. Weak minded person would do wrong things on bad judgements. Since a red full moon had so much power, it would not only triggering a curse if there was one, but also strengthen the curse. In Megitsune, you've seen the Fox God peeking and selecting. Fox god is representing the black magic power. In Headbanger MV, a crimson moon was shown in the very end as a hint. Did she really just pass out for exhaustion after a concert? I think she passed out because the Fox God spell was triggered. The gong Su hit at the end of the Headbanger live, I think it's a metaphor that Su decided to accept the spell that Fox God put on her, while Yui and Moa tried to stop her. In Akatsuki, the red moon is even bigger, fierce and struggled on fighting something in her mind.
