MILO 2 On Test Pt 11 - Heading Up The Billy Goat Track - Built Not Bought - 40 Series - Roothy

It's all about slowly building confidence in a new truck, especially when you've built it from the chassis up, and that's what this whole Milo 2 On Test sequence has been about.
This episode sees us taking on the first part of the Billy Goat Track in the Bendelby Ranges, a track that anyone can have a go at - but one you might need to see before trying it!
Why's that? Look, at this stage in the Milo 2 build we've pretty much determined the new/old girl is doing just fine on the sand and capable of big miles on the tar but will it handle some rugged rock work and a heap of corrugations?
Of course Milo 2's capable enough, this kind of thing is much more about the slow process of sorting out the nuts and bolts. As you watch Milo 2's Terrain Tamer leaf suspension packs working from one limit to the next you get some idea of the stresses placed on everything from U-bolts to shackles. A well put together truck can handle this kind of stuff straight off the shelf but I always like to 'fine tune' any machine before subjecting it to more severe tests. So there's a whole lot of listening and looking going on here!
Meanwhile my mate Paul 'Mr Landcruiser' Read is punching his beautiful old 47 tray back along the track quite happy to have a go at anything Milo 2 can do - at this stage anyway. Like a lot of people Paul loves driving 40's in the environment they were meant to be driven in. 'SMART' Richard and Simon are following along in the JK Jeep and you can see there's a whole lot of difference in the way the coil suspension handles the same terrain.
At the end of this clip though you can tell it's all about the sheer beauty of the Flinders Ranges and the harshness of our country. And also at the end we get ready to take on one of the most treacherous climbs in Australia. With nothing but steep drop offs on both sides of a narrow, rocky track, this is no place to get it wrong.
