Hi, Jonh, greetings from Czech! Thanks for the review our mess kit. :) I have one also. Its very practical, sturdy and it last for decades. :) I usually make tea in the smaller one, and cook food in the big one. Bye!

Always have regretted not buying the Czeck messkit when I saw it.I very much enjoyed seeing one in use. Decent surplus is getting hard to find in Scotland.

Great scenery shots! Got a stainless copy of this mess kit, really handy for rehydrating dehydrated meals or anything else that needs to not be kicked over or have dead insects in like water boiled to be potable for the morning. Good stuff, thanks for the vid!
@John-Sherwood-W4JFS5 жыл бұрын
jelkel25 how nice is the stainless version? Is the thickness of steel good? I really like this surplus kit. It is one of my top three military mess kits even though it is aluminum.
@jelkel255 жыл бұрын
@@John-Sherwood-W4JFS Mines a cheaper one bought in an end of season sale so even cheaper but it's good. Helikon do a version that's probably better quality though I'm happy with mine. I have no problem with aluminium and would have bought the Czech set if I hadn't run into this one, it is a great design.
@John-Sherwood-W4JFS5 жыл бұрын
jelkel25 ok. Thanks. I was just wondering because some remakes are not so good. I don’t plan on buying a stainless one anytime soon but I was just curious. Thanks very much!

birdie399 it was a very tasty meal. The Florida Boy and me are both live in Central Florida but I am closer to the Gulf of Mexico and he is closer to the Atlantic side. But our woods looks very much the same. Thanks for watching and for your comment!

What was the reason you didn't use the fire ring?
@John-Sherwood-W4JFS5 жыл бұрын
The fire ring was just part of a old 55 gallon steel drum that got in the way when we were cooking. It was easily moved after the initial big part of the flames died down to coals and we put it back after we were finished cooking. With it in place it would have been harder to stir the food without getting burned.
