RaceRoom Graphics Update 2024 - Rejuvenation or Just a Reshade ?

For driving sims graphics are so far down the list of importance for me personally. Great graphics don’t make for great driving experiences. AMS2 looks pretty ( almost cartoonish ) and has great performance, but has really weird handling and you powerslide for speed, plus terrible AI and online. Dirt Rally 2.0 and EA WRC look decent but again dumbed down easy to manipulate physics like AMS2. Then the contrasting sims raceroom and rf2 not the best looking and dated, but the physics and handling are incredible, great online and for the most part decent AI. RBR again not exactly pretty and very dated but still more immersive to drive. I’ll take immersive handling and physics over pretty graphics all day everyday.

You don't have to tell me mate - I grew up in the 80s 🤣🤣 My favorite sims are the worst looking RaceRoom Rf2 RBR

Agree about physics. Its absolutely best and natural. Hope it will stay in right direction if will be any further updates

@@happilyaverageracer well , I'm not really into night time racing. Moreover most of the tracks irl just don't support(have facilities) for night racing, so even if we have it, it should be limitation depending on track. As in GT7. For the lights, it's a weak point in re. You can take R32 Gr.N and turn on the front lights, it will be almost 2d visible texture with sharp edge when light ends. For the rain, it would be awesome, to have something like in Ams2. Agree here

Ive always loved raceroom. Tbh its awesome for tintops. That DTM alfa looks mega. Instant buy for me. Good video fella.

Now I've played way more RR than any other racing sum, but even with this new graphics update, the game looks at least 15 years out of date. In the last couple of years I've been playing at lot of GT7 in both flat screen and vr and the difference in visual quality is absolutely massive.

Yeah but I'd rather play a sim made for adults despite how it looks (for example RBR, rf2, RaceRoom etc)

I ran the so called Ugly Ducky in 4K on a wide screen curved with TrackIR v5 and prior to this update is was not ugly. But... beauty is in the eye of the beholder. LOL

I like RR now, haven't played it for a while because it looked so dull. It's not better than AMS2 for example but RR is more enjoyable now than before

Racerroom is great. However i orefer modern hockenheim . Anyway its cool ta have such a variaty

How GPU intensive is it? I run a 5700XT, Reverb G2 and am just happy with Rf2 and AMS2 but can get fps problems at times, despite small field of cars and the benefit of Open XR over Steam VR?

Raceroom is almost purely CPU intensive, but runs well on 10 year old machines, so you should have no issues. Just play around with the settings a bit once ingame.

I used to run RaceRoom on a Ryzen3 1200 with gtx970, with most settings at high (reduced shadows etc.) and got a consistent 60fps
