A good or bad debate can make or break a campaign.
We take a look at current and historical Presidential debates and then ask the question, how would STOSSEL do in a Presidential debate?
A Classic Stossel from 2012.

@nedredhead474
@nedredhead474 3 жыл бұрын
@Kevin Duggan my guy conspiracy theories are dangerous because of their very nature. They go after a bold revolutionary claim and they're "impossible " to disprove because that's just what "they" want you to think/say. I can say I live in a secret underground bunker on the moon being kept hostage by the Pakistan government and as long as I spew one or two things that resonate per person then I get a following that will swear I live there. Any evidence against that is simply counteracts by the government trying to hide me or me being censored. I might be unable to answer questions because they could blow my cover. Etc. Conspiracy theories are at best some asshat with a mini stroke and at worst harmful to society like anti vaxx or flat earthers or anti masks. Please do yourself a favor, stop, even if the theories are true (99% are not), do some research before actively spreading misinformation, look for answers to disprove the theory, otherwise your just looking for confirmation bias.

"electoral college votes". I remember, thirty years ago, I calculated the least number of people required to gain 50.001% of the electoral votes in Norway. Pretty low, like 35%. Living in a large city I though that was wrong. Later, learning that real workers are creating wealth, not internet videos, I understand why it is that way. People in the cities need food. Keep Trofim Denisovich Lysenko dead forever.

@@gummansgubbe6225 Some of us create resources for many many people in exchange for reasonable amounts of fiat currency alongside the notable reality of import regarding land ownership, which many resource creators have; Though some lease land or have it through credit and use the land to create resources, my father sold 80 acres of farmland and it was paid off ten years early because resource creation can do well when managed well and worked to the bone before sun-up to after sun-down at least six days a week and then a half day. And, most do not create resources, in the sense that they require the others for their very survival while the others do not require other than themselves to survive; This large bulk provide services we deem useful and reward with fiat currency with which they can acquire and should they desire, hoard/stock and build a wealth of resources, though they are given the fish and not learning how to fish. Supply and demand and we have plenty of both, but still important to recognize sometimes that one cannot eat fiat currency and their bellies be satisfied, thus we vastly underappreciate the stuff we buy at a market to shove down our gaping maws. Also, I'm part of a subset of people that fill no function other than to waste people's time with noise and no signal. When there becomes so much noise that the signal is lost, there are too many of me, and this speaks of times to come when the soft will have to become hard again; Because, soft times make soft people, and soft people make hard times that require hard people and the cycle repeats ad-nauseum. Hope we all enjoyed this apex before it began its downward curve, it was fun to have radical theory college courses and all that, but some will have to learn resource creation to supply the demands of the big city populations and the homeless or otherwise incapable of supplying demands where resource and fiat currency are both vacant, some cities have near 100k populations of homeless. Unfortunate and not easily solved, but it represents a net negative that drains resources. Biden will make sure all the homeless learn how to code though, so I'm sure we're just fine.

There is a pretty good movie that shines a little light on a candidate as he goes through the whole process of getting elected. not surprising, the movie is called _The Candidate_ . It is a movie now almost 50 years old starring a young Robert Redford. There is a scene where he and his campaign manager are arguing over which color necktie would serve him best during an upcoming debate.

My problem with debates is they are OBSOLETE in it's current format of 2 minute answers. Try talking about solutions for race relations that have been going on for 50+ years and compressing it down to 2 minutes. We give more time to social media than we do actual debate answers. That's why I liked the idea of a Joe Rogan style debate that would last 3 hours. Give each person 10 minutes and deep dive into some of the most important issues that impact all of of. I can't even beat off to satisfaction in 2 minutes. These issues need more time to be explained than over simplified sound bites and Gotya moments.

By the criteria in this video, Trump won the final debate. He looked like he was taking up more space on the stage, he grasped the podium, projected confidence and controlled the room. Biden looked at his watch. Biden smirked and laughed but this did not appear to be humor, but rather discomfort. Trump projected health, and Biden looked old and frail and feeble and his speech was halting and unsure at many points. Good video, Stossel, I learned a lot.

Debates have little to do w/ answers to policy questions and there is a greater chance it will hurt them than help. It's greatest virtue, however, is to see how they deal with pressure and see if they can be quick off the back foot.

Pretty sure trump never does debate prep...and if he does do it he forgets it all the second the debate starts. It's why he always wins...not a staged performance, whether you love him or hate him he is authentic and he doesn't apologize for that. It's refreshing

I would say that was probably why he kept on attacking an inaccurate strawman of Joe Biden during the first debate. No hard leftist was going to be voting for Joe Biden anyway, so why repeat like a broken record “you just lost the left” over and over again? If it’s true that Trump didn’t have any debate prep, it clearly showed in his inability to realize that Joe Biden isn’t a leftist.

Debates have been a joke and always will be until they have a real moderator like Joe Rogan and the candidates are placed into a soundproof room so the only thing they hear is the question. Also, no normal people change their minds by the bullshit those coaches are pedaling or the stupid commercials they make with soundbites and video clips...
