Amazing John. I've seen all of the videos so far and have learned a lot but this video is the best so far as I have FINALLY learned how to tie the rope ladders to the shrouds. Thanks John and stay safe from Covid-19 my friend. Bill G Linwood KS USA

you make all of one side and them the other side, cause I read in every book that you should alterned one set to babor and one to port to keep the mastil straight. but I like your way is easier and you don't have to move the ship so often and also that needle threader is a awesome technique.

Great videos! Awesome information on very helpful! I was wondering why you do one side completely then the other. Why don't you do ropes 5 & 6 on one side then the other, repeating for each set? Just curious as to why it is done the way you show. Again excellent work and thanks for showing us!!

Thank you very much!!! I like finishing up the sides one at the time than do the same time both sides. So if i make a mistake on one side it's easier to fix one mistake than two :)

john, my spanish husband is addicted to your u tubes on Santisima Trinidad.... however, he wants to know the glue you use in an orange and yellow bottle plus a curved nozzle for the ropes. And where it can be bought. hugely grateful.... if you can oblige. juliet

Thanks your husband for me Juliet :) I use 2 types of glue, white glue for wood, you can buy it in any hardware store and cyanoacrylic glue the thin type, this one : www.super-hobby.es/products/CA-cement-BOND-thin.html and here are the little tubes : www.super-hobby.es/products/Dozownik-do-klejow-CA-PVA-UV-10szt..html

Which boat do you think is harder. The victory or Santisma trinidad?
@JohnsWoodenShips Жыл бұрын
Santa Ana is the hardest one. Then Victory.

John, how do you know how tight to pull the lines?
@JohnsWoodenShips5 жыл бұрын
You know the height of the dead eyes from the photos or the schematics, so you try to match that height with the 1st dead eye and then when it comes the time to tie the 2nd that are on the same rope ,i place the loop with the dead eye almost at the same height with the one next to it but about 2/3 of a dead eye lower. Then when i twist the ropes to make the noose on the dead eye the result is to be at the same height or a bit higher. Now it's easy to pull the ropes and adjust it and it's tight enough. If you tighten the ropes too much (if you do not much the height between the dead eyes) then you would have 2 effects : 1) the mast will end up laying to one side 2) you will make the platforms dead eyes to rise. :)
