Wow... Mr. Filippo made me happy just by how happy he was! I know we all want that "monster" this or that, but i think we need to reflect on how excited we were, walking through the woods in the dark for the first time, feeling like we were finally hunters....

Wonderful animals, some great shooting and congratulations to your wife, I am so disappointed that I never took an Impala ram when I was in Namibia, I had the opportunity but he just wasn't what I was after, in hindsight I shouldn't have been so fussy, next time I shan't be, thanks for taking us on your hunt, a most enjoyable watch, and once again John X safari's produced the goods.

The PH is excellent, trophies are phenomenal. A happy client. Doesn't get any better than that.
@sldrckofages72004 жыл бұрын
Martin's skills as our PH, were OUTSTANDING. I had no idea that someone could look at an animal, through a spotting scope, at LEAST 1000 plus yards away and could know its sex, its age, and its condition. Not only did he know all the information about the animal but he could also pick that specific animal out of a herd of 20 others that looked just like our potential trophy. Needless to say, John X Safaris doesn't fool around when it comes to having well trained, experienced hunting guides to ensure that the hunter has every opportunity to take their desired trophy.

Captivating! Breathtaking! Beautiful! And what a wonderful client. He's loving every moment of what he's doing, he's humble, he's excited. Truly, a decent bloke. The bird sounds, the sunset, the lightening. What a wonderful vid! Wish I could be there. God bless, Dave

Great Eland very mature bull.
@sldrckofages72004 жыл бұрын
That Eland was so old that he had no mop on the forehead because he had rubbed it off. He also had almost no hair on much of his body, which made it where he was VERY blue in color. We are looking forward to getting the notification that the animals have shipped from Africa and it's only a matter of time until the wall mounts are ready to install. We also are very pleased with how the entire trip was handled, from the perfect accommodations and gourmet meals, to the incredible skills of Martin, our PH, who could tell so much about any animal we saw, even when that animal was over 1000 yards away. I've never encountered a hunting guide with such skills.

It's VERY interesting to watch this video and feel the adrenaline with each shot, considering that it didn't happen to me at ALL when I was actually hunting. What a GREAT way to relive a time that will be very difficult to replicate and most likely IMPOSSIBLE to surpass. God willing, we will see what Africa gives us in 2022, when we hope to return so we can hunt for a Cape Buffalo.

Wow never seen a Blue Eland before what a monster.
@sldrckofages72004 жыл бұрын
It REALLY was much larger than I imagined it would be and I've been around large cattle most of my life. I was pleased that we were able to take such an ancient bull because he was starting to decline in health and would might have had a difficult time surviving through the next winter. As it was, I got to take a fine specimen, we all got to feast on some of the finest quality meat on the planet, AND the herd is now able to replace that bull with a stronger, younger one. John X Safaris is REALLY on the cutting edge of their animal conservation program and they maintain the size and quality of individual animals in their herds with a remarkable accuracy, allowing only the very strongest and most virile animals to keep producing the young. It keeps their herds in outstanding condition so that they are able thrive in harsher conditions when other animals might not be able to.

I was surprised at how blue the animal actually was and Martin, our PH, told me that the older the animal gets, the more they lose their hair and the color of the skin is seen. This Eland was VERY old and was in fact starting to go downhill in its life. Martin estimated this Eland was over 10 years old and probably wouldn't make it through another winter season. I have to say though, the steaks from its tenderloin was one of the finest I've EVER eaten in my 57 years of living and being as how I LOVE to eat a good steak, that's really saying something.

@@terencelawson3761 Martin, my PH, and I watched the group of Kudu cows and calves for almost an hour, while we waited to see if the bull would show himself. Once the bull DID show up I watched him through my scope for OVER an hour before he finally presented himself sufficiently in the open. This particular part of the hunt was definitely worth the time we spent waiting for the right moment to take my shot.

In 40+ years of hunting I've NEVER gotten the dreaded scope eye that most hunters who shoot high powered rifles acquire, usually in their early years. This was my first time shooting a 300 WinMag and I didn't hold the rifle tightly enough and got tagged. Later in the safari, the scope on that particular rifle failed so I was given a Gunwerks rifle that was the equivalent of my personal 7mm mag, except for the fact that the Gunwerks rifle was EXTREMELY light weight and my first shot with THAT rifle landed me an even larger, deeper scope eye. Now I know that the rifles in South Africa are prone to striking their shooter in the face. I found it difficult to both hold the rifle very tightly and gently squeeze the trigger.

Was this hunt before the lockdown or was it recent
@sldrckofages72004 жыл бұрын
This hunt ended 24 hours before the lockdown and our flight from London to the USA was the very last one allowed to leave the UK. Had we left Africa 8 hours later than we did, we could very well STILL be in London. Needless to say, we were very surprised to see the insanity that was perpetrated on the population using this COVID19 foolishness.
