Shenzhen is a great city, it's so young and vibrant. So many people immigrated to that city for work. Shekou and Sea World were fun neighborhoods to hang out in. There's really so much to explore in shenzhen. I lived in Nanshan mostly, known for it's mountain. I loved seeing Futain at night, Coco park. The food was good, and the people were so nice.

I think Shenzhen is the most amazing city in china. its the youngest megacity in the world, from a small fishing town with only 300 thousands population to a chinas most innovative and vibrant city with more than 10 million population. also the most inclusive city

We live in the Luohu District of Shenzhen, I believe it is one of the first districts of Shenzhen when free trade opened up? Mostly fantastic, but there are occassions when locals won't even sit next to us on the metro, or we get fearful looks as though we might carry the plague. Mostly wonderful though and we love living and working here in Shenzhen. We really do mix and live with locals though, a bit more 'real' China I guess. Very grateful.

Go up to Guangzhou (canton) if you have a chance. It is a more traditional metropolitan centre of the province of Guangdong. It preserved some traditional local and western/colonial style buildings. It also has the best food you could try!

There aren't that many tourist attractions indeed, but you can buy ticket and go up to the top floor of 地王大厦, which used to be the tallest building of shenzhen for a few decades, and you can get a good view of the city skyline, and see the difference between shenzhen and hong kong across the shenzhen river. Also, the 深圳湾公园 is a good place to go for a walk or a bike ride in evenings. Hope you enjoy the stay in my hometown shenzhen!

Aimz! Back to China already? Sweet. Shenzhen has always been the city that links China to Hong Kong so i'm not surprised to see so much diversity and development there. Electric has had a big push in China for the last decade I'd say probably since the Olympic games. Chinese are all about the prestige so it was a smart move by the government to make blue number plates for cars that were electric as a sign of status, so you see them all over the place now. Tesla is in there but there's at least 2 or 3 other Chinese car manufacturers making electric vehicles now. You've made Shenzhen look amazing, I've never been but looks like I need to put it on the list. Love your little walking transitionals you've added in this vid like you're on Getaway, so cliche and dorky. 😂 Good luck with all the meet ups, wish I could come say hi. Happy travels. 👍

Actually Shenzhen's achievement has less to do with Hongkong than most people assumed. Hongkong is and has been very against mainland so the local industries are pushed by politics against forming a strong relationship with it's neighbour city. If you look on google map, Shenzhen's city center is build alone the border line between Shenzhen and Hongkong. The Hongkong side is purely farmland and nothing else, despite being a flat area suitable for development. There have been proposals by the Hongkong government to develop it's border and create more interaction with Shenzhen, but such proposals are always attacked by pro-democracy protesters over the concern of "giving up it's independent position", thus such plans were never executed and it's border region remains farmland.

smart for you to visit Shenzhen during its best season: southwest monsoon brings almost the best air quality in China. That's why you can see blue skies with huge clouds almost every day. Shenzhen's summer air quality is almost on par with that of Western countries. The air turns much worse when the monsoon turns northeast near the end of the year: haze/smog almost every day, followed by endless fog and gloomy spring days until summer comes again.

My father is from Shenzhen (Hakka) and I wonder if he would recognise this footage. Crazy with all the boom. When i was 5 (1990), I just remembered dusty roads... In 2007 I remember a local basketball court that had maybe 4 courts side by side all packed out with ballers waiting to play. Unsure if this was near the Lo Wu shopping centre. Possibly not

Hong Kong size restrict it expansion, hence sky rise rent and super tall building. Space is at premium. Shenzhen is newer city and local government try to enhance it environment with parks and green areas.
