Perfect weekend event despite the rain. Is it possible to have a hologram of a dragon designed by Steve, of course, on the tower? I don't know much about the 'how to', but a night-time display would be unique and amazing. Glow in the dark?

I miss having festivals like that! Things are just too crazy and dangerous with some of the fairs around town. I don’t like fireworks anymore because I have seen so many but “setting the church on fire” was kind of interesting!

Loved the flute “William Tell Overture” accompanying the fireworks. Nice celebratory repast. The only other thing I might have done in addition, is to put some grape leaves (or other non- poisonous foliage) under the cheeses on the board. I probably would also have put a vase of simple flowers on the table with the food. Really liked the way you arranged the fruit and veggie platters!

You did great Sara, Sad to say this Italian girl isn't much for cooking, etc. Probably my best effort is stuffed mushrooms. Even my meatballs once raised the concern of my father who said if fed them to a duck he'd probably sink. Lol Thanks for showing us this event. I'd love to be able to visit France one day. There have been times that perhaps I lived in a beautiful chateau in France in another life. I've always been drawn to fine carriages and delicate porcelains.

Hello Sara and Stephen. An idea I saw on internet was to put all ingredients together on one plate or dish or even on a table cloth. Perhaps Stephen can make a very large table size tray and you can decorate it with all the food together with cheese olives salami fruit and whatever else you want. It will look spectacular. Even have bits of bread along the edges. 😀💙😀

How fun to have the Brocante in your own yard! And I like your "Is this what we are living now" moment. Good idea to add the red element to the fruit platter. You asked us for comments about your service layout, here goes; I would have added a bouquet of wildflowers or any greenery from the grounds. This would have added a touch of "fete champetre" to the table. Serving utensils on all platters, so no hands touch other items in the platter. I would go with consistency in the choice of platters; either all wood, all crystal glass, even the cheap stuff, or all white platters. Brings the different food types together. I love doing "des mises en scenes" or vignettes. comes from having my own Brocante. No need to go all fancy " a la Phillipe" from the other chateau ;-) One day I'd love to come volunteer at one of your events and I'd have a ball doing set-ups. ( for now, I'm enjoying living in southern Quebec)

What a beautiful backdrop the art exhibition had with your chateau. The fete and exhibition make the town you’ve moved to seem so creative, community oriented, warm and welcoming. Loved your spread! I’ve never peeled my celery but makes sense & simple to do . When I lived in Japan, I was surprised that people commonly peeled grapes, which is far more time consuming and fiddly than celery! Loved seeing the buildings light up with the spectacular fireworks too!!!!
