Why does the pilot reverse away from the helipad after take off and then fly forward? Is it to protect the people on the roof from the rotor wash or...?

It’s a procedure known as a Category A take off. In the event of an engine failure, or other technical issue that prevents departure, the flight crew have a cleared area to return the helicopter to - and can maintain a visual on the site throughout the departure procedure too.

no. one pilot a critical paramedic and a doctor or 2 critical paramedics please see attached information about it from my local air ambulance charity northwest air ambulance Space is limited on board, but we carry all the vital equipment we need. In total there are three North West Air Ambulance helicopters. Each has a crew of three, one pilot, and either one doctor and a critical care paramedic, or two critical care paramedics.
