3 minutes in and I have no idea how the new rule increases their budget requirements. WTF is the new rule. Will I get the answer in the last 12 minutes, or will I still not have any idea? Doesn't matter I'm not hanging around to find out. Besides I read the comments after I started my comment. I wanted to see if my question might be answered in them. It was. And the answer is nothing in the new rule is ever mentioned.

First ,thank SCOTUS for overturning Chevron. Second, A vote for all RED would help take away overreach by all gooberment letter agencies.

We have OSHA standards because someone died or was severely injured. It is the same reason Departments have SOP's( standard operating procedures), someone got hurt or died for not following established policies. And Vol fire dept's should be following the same rules, laws and regulations as their career brothers. We ALL do the same job and should follow the SAME laws, regulations and policies. Instead of trying to make it more unsafe for us to do our job, how about FUNDING those departments so they can meet the new standards and do the job of firefighting safer. You all like to whine about standards, but won't help out financially so those departments CAN get newer gear, better equipment, safer fire apparatus and better training.

Name me one for profit fire department. I don't think you can, so why are you advocating for higher taxes? You don't pay them because you're paid with tax money. Are you willing to take a pay cut to fund volunteer departments? I doubt it.

So, a department that operates as one who is paid for their services should not have to play by the rules...don't fight required standards that are designed to save lives, FUND volunteer departments as they should be funded. Pull some $$$$'s from the DoD, a federal department that can't even be officially audited.

If a community can afford to build a Taj Mahal station like that and buy top of the line equipment, it can afford to pay professional firefighters.
@Hurst69693 ай бұрын
Will guess you have never been a firefighter so have no idea how much payroll is. Not just paying the folks but covering medical insurance and retirement is crazy! And the funds to build the station come from a different pot of money from the community.

@@Hurst6969 My family has been proud IAFF members since 1950, including myself since 1984. I'm fully aware of how the vollies in the northeast work. It's what they do instead of joining the Shriners or Lions club. If the community is over 30K then they need to be a professional department.

@@Chris_Sokol It's not our fault nobody can or will volunteer anymore. The world has changed and you better get on board. The sooner you demand full time professional fire protection from your communities, the sooner you can get a good fireman job.

NFPA standards have served the fire service well for decades .... As a retired firefighter , I think politics needs to take a back seat to response times , safety and training .... Get alittle bit of that " Build Back Better " money .......

I'm curious. How much did this bit of political theater cost the taxpayer? Perhaps we could reallocate some of the half billion plus dollars spent annually on House of Representative office staff to help pay to keep these volunteer fire fighters safe.

An unpaid volunteer by definition isn't a scab. If a community could afford paid union firefighters, they wouldn't be complaining about the impact these new OSHA regs (unmentioned in this vid, but undoubtedly geared toward safety) would have towards their limited budgets.
