I'm a light vehicle mechanic, helped a semi driver broken down out the front of our shop, he was doing something under it (I was too busy to get involved at the time, but offered him the use of my toolbox), the size of the uni's were unbelievable!!! @@Cj1985_GT Good point, slipping a clutch even slightly under full load/full throttle is going to create some serious heat very quickly. Not just the heat, the force opposing the torque that's trying to tare the friction lining straight off the friction disc. The pressure plates must use a lot of spring pressure to make all this work so well. I can only imagine the hot spots on the flywheel from repeated full load/full throttle launches as well 😳

The real action shots are inside the cab. These guys throw their whole soul into the shifts and it's epic. Spartan kicking a clutch capable of holding that torque is no joke and if a throw for a shift is off by a hair you're screwed. Definitely get some in cab footage next time.

@@banditdarville. I believe the chassis is flexible like that on purpose so that the frames don't straight up snap in half from the sheer torque. I do get how it compromises rigidity, but when you're hauling a 120,000 pound load of plywood there's really not much you can do about that if you're watching from the sidelines.

The white truck that won has some kind of engine managemet that no one else seems to run. It rolls out 20 feet and the the black smoke starts pouring. Also he doesnt shift as much as most trucks.

That truck has a newer motor, the x 15 platform is a lot newer, and is still being produced, the Cat engines haven't been on road for decades. I can't wait to see the guys get x15 trucks figured out, especialy like you said with the timing and power management that he is doing.

If it is using the original x15 fuel system it would be common rail which would give far more tuning capability and precision as compared to the meui systems on the c15’s and series 60’s

There was a truck there I haven’t seen called Fat Cab. The owner had the only common rail 8v92 two stroke diesel in the world. He’s even using an aftermarket ECU (maybe Holley) to control it. It’s freaking wild and deserves some screen time.

164,000lbs GVW is the limit for on road in Michigan. Off road areas in parts of the US and Canada exceed that by a large margin though.

I was shocked when i saw American truckers driving 85 mph, thats CRAZY!!! Like nobody questioned the stopping distance of that weight at that speed.

What’s it like to watch two 3,000HP semi trucks race each other? 🤯 It’s absolutely insane! These rigs can pull over 120,000 pounds, so I can’t even imagine what they’d do to a regular car. Plus, there are people inside, and nobody is wearing seatbelts! I’m impressed that they’re able to handle these beasts, but I sure wouldn’t want to be in the cab next to them!

@@darrendouglas4796 that’s an unusual way of describing a Detroit diesel, it goes like this V8-92, shape of the block, number of cylinders, cubic inches in each cylinder. They were the last major diesel manufacturer to go to four stroke engines .
