I was baptized in 1994 and came from a non-religious background. Like Cheyenne, I found so much joy . I was shocked when, within weeks of my baptism, I found myself drowning in anti-mormon literature and lies from every direction. I am now 64 years old and living with my 91 year old mother to care for her. Her total dismissal of anything gospel related has dented my overwhelmed soul. Yet, I can never deny feeling the Spirit of God testifying so many times of the truthfulness of this faith.

I just stumbled on to this video,amazing. My wife's family was LDS. Amazing people and church. We are not together any more after 30 years. But I have been thinking and drawn to anything to do with the church lately. God and I have gone back and forth for many years not being raised in any church. And by that I mean me of course going back and forth. I end up defending or politely correcting people quite often who are not educated at all on the LDS church and they are usually very surprised to hear the truth. Your story is amazing and really touched my heart. Again I felt such a pull and over welling of emotion listening too your story. Thank you for sharing.

What a beautiful story, Cheyenne! I went through much the same as you did, not so much losing friends, but similar things happen to me with my family. My mom went to the hospital when she found out I was attending church with my sister and my brother-in-law for the first time. She was in the hospital for three days from a nervous breakdown. My brother came to the church and threatened my brother-in-law if something happened to my mom. It was a little contentious at my home with my parents for a while, but I didn’t have to move out so that was one positive thing that came from it. And like you, shortly after one year I put my papers to go on a mission and served in Guayaquil Ecuador. That was an amazing experience. Serving people in another country, learning a new culture and spreading the gospel to people who were so humble. Thank you for sharing your story. I hung on every word that you said waiting to hear what you were going to say next. I’m so happy that you found the truth and are growing in the gospel. For me, it’s been roughly 45 years since I was baptized. And I’ve never regretted joining the church.

We each have a testimony and are strong in our faith. We thank Mom and Dad for bring us into the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ and making it possible for us to have that joy. Many years ago in Perth, Australia, my companion and I (who are both from NZ) taught a wonderful young woman who was basically your age when you were being taught by the missionaries. The day before her baptism her long lost friend from her old Church was sent over to tell her why our Church was evil and she shouldn't follow what she had felt from Heavenly Father. It breaks my heart that we lacked the experience to help her navigate this disruption to her conversion and she stopped coming to church. I can still see her face. My husband passed away 18 years ago. It was difficult grieving, of course, but I know we will be together again forever because of the Savior’s atonement available to all mankind. I can understand because I am also a member. When I was 17 on Feb 17, 1980, a couple invited me to take the lessons and I accepted. I did not know that this was against my father’s wishes. I became 18 years old on April 9th, 1980 and soon was asked about joining the church and being baptised. I had to tell my father about my baptism the day before. He worked late, around 7:00 p.m. from what I remember. I made a commitment to inform my father by 8:00 p.m. I was fearful to ask him, so I paced nervously. At 759 p.m., I walked to the couch and told him I needed to talk. I plan to be baptized tomorrow. No baptisms on Sundays, he said. I repeated myself and then he said if you get baptised you mightiest well pack your things and leave. I had not finished high school and was still working on the 11th grade. I went upstairs and pack my things and went to the house of the friend who had the missionaries over. I felt like this was going to happen, and it did. They said that I could live with them, but that did not last long and I was asked to move out. They had a son that gave me a hard time. I went to another family and stay there for a while. It was a place where a retired couple lived. The lady Elizabeth was great, but the Husband was not a member of the church. He gave me a hard time. He wanted me to go and after some time; I had to leave. Once I graduated from high school, I had the help of the church and got an apartment. This is the short version and yes, I understand all so well. I want you to know that I have a website about prophecy and I am placing a link to your Testimony. genuine prophecies is the site. You can check it out, the link is at the bottom of the page. It’s a .com site. genuineprophecies That testimony means a lot to me. It's difficult and I wish people would be more open-hearted. We're fortunate as members. I am grateful to understand the events before the 2nd coming. I wish people would listen to the truth. Thank you for sharing such valuable content. God be with you. I hope that it’s ok that I place a link to your testimony. (Cheyenne) Happy Holiday - But I say; If you believe then, every day is Christmas. Sincerely, Tim T

My first testimony was of Joseph Smith. There was no way that he did what he did without the express help of The Godhead. In fact it was a full 5 years later after my baptism & confirmation that I read The Book of Mormon. The Holy Ghost burns within me. There is so much for you to learn even now. Hey Cheyenne! I'm adult convert, too, having had a very active faith journey in "mainstream" Christianity before I met with missionaries. (Funny aside, I thought I was there to convert them!) I have tons of family and friends who love the Lord and who, so far, think the Book of Mormon is just a work of fiction. But what I have come to realize is that they don't know what they don't know, and God will convert them in His time just as He converted you and me through the sweet promptings of the Holy Ghost. So don't be sad for them, but do pray for them every time you think of it. More miracles, and "the greatest manifestations of the Savior’s power that the world has ever seen," are ahead!

I too am a "mainstream" Christian and meeting with the missionaries whenever I can. I'm curious if you could help me understand what the book of mormon adds to the gospel that is in the New Testament. (I am just at the beginning of reading it.) I don't get the feeling that the missionaries are very knowledgeable about the New Testament gospel because they haven't been raised in a church that teaches as much from the Bible so I am interested in your opinion as someone with that background who has converted. Thanks
@josephine79 Жыл бұрын
@@coachmarc2002The LDS faith actually studies and learns from the Bible extensively in church lessons, Conference Talks, Devotionals, Seminary (which is standard for high school students), Institute (college age students), and so on. The Book of Mormon strongly supports the Bible and the Bible strongly supports our faith. We don't expect the youth to retain everything in the Bible or Book of Mormon, but to learn the spiritual principles within them. But we do encourage them to try to remember scriptures that strengthen our testimony of Jesus Christ and to help us on our covenant path with God. And some members know or remember scriptures more than others. We don't feel how much scripture we retain is what measures our relationship with God, but we are taught to read them regularly which beings the Holy Spirit and to try to follow the precepts within them, such as the teachings of Jesus in the New Testament, which can bring us closer to God. Ironically, we often wonder the same thing about other faiths when it comes to the Bible because there are so many scriptures in it that strongly support our faith that we wonder if other faiths overlook them or if they are unfamiliar with them. Some we know we just have different interpretations of them, but others it seems we are the only ones who believe them.

Thank you Cheyenne for your testimony and story. Your light shines brightly. I too am a convert. Some similarities in being disowned by friends and family. My mission was a great testimony builder. I pinch myself sometimes knowing this is the Lords church.

Your channel is amazing thank you!! I have been raised in a good home and in the church. I have always felt a risistance to the stereo typical culture of the church. I have never liked wearng suits or parting my hair. I love seeing you as a faithful member is still comfortable being herself and having blue hair! I love the Lord and the Gospel and I have never doubted that, but sometimes I feel uncomfortable around members. That is why its so important to focus on Christ and whether or not this gospel is bringing you closer to him. Also remember its not my place to judge others but to love them however they are.

I loved to hear your conversation story. I joined the church when I was 18. After my baptism the missionaries gave me a picture of Spencer W. Kimball our prophet at the time and when I showed it to my parents, my mom said I was brainwashed. It's been 45 years since my baptism and I am so grateful I was "brainwashed" because it's been the best decision I've made in my entire life. I love the gospel and my Savior. Thank you for sharing your beautiful testimony❤

When I joined the LDS Church at the age of 20, I was so grateful my parents and siblings were OK with it. However, I was insulted by quite a few of my other relatives and former friends and acquaintances. I am now almost 70 and still holding on to the iron rod.

when i was a senior in high school, i joined the church. i remember getting a bunch of backlash. my pops walked out of my baptism. my friends mocked me. my sister in law brought me to her church trying to convince me to change my mind. my brother also used to be a part of the assembly of god movement in texas and is still a bigtime leader in the evangelical community in his area. great guy. as hard as the backlash was, i couldn't deny what god revealed to me. "bless your heart" cheyenne. thanks for sharing your story.

Cheyenne is an amazing example of following God from such a young age! She is a true follower of Jesus Christ. You have done so many things of your own free will and choice. It is glorious how you pursued God on your own through all of that opposition. God loves your effort. You have reminded me why God gives us opposition. And let us figure it out on our own, but with his spirit as our only help and guide.

I took the missionary lessons at age 14, and I could very much relate to Joseph Smith's search for truth at my same age. I was baptized just after turning 15. At 16, I visited an Assembly of God church with a friend. They immediately took me to the pastor to turn me from the "devilish church" I was in. They gave me anti-mormon literature. Everything I saw, heard, and read from them (because they were so terribly off base from what they thought we believe - and because the Spirit was not with them) the things they said, did, and the materials I read from them actually strengthened my faith in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints being Christ's true church.

Your testimony reminds me of the dialogue between the Savior and his disciples when he asked them "whom do men say that I the Son of man am?" The disciples reported that there were many opinions as to who he was, all of them wrong. Then he asked "But whom say ye that I am?" Peter replied without hesitation, "Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God." The Savior commended him, "Blessed art thou Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my father which is in heaven." This was essentially a master class by the Savior on how we may discern truth from error. You knew, Cheyenne, that this is the work of God in spite of the opinions of "flesh and blood" because the Father had revealed it to you. The Savior went on to say that "upon this rock (i.e., the rock of revelation from the Father) I will build my church." And so he has. You are evidence of that. So am I.

What a contrast it is to compare the countenance of this woman with those of the critics of the church. Light versus dark. Joy versus bitterness. Kindness versus vitriol.

On 12/7/2023@@user-wg5dm6oc3treplied, "She's a grown woman and sounds like a naive teenager to me. No wonder she was conned." Were you talking about Cheyenne, "M"? I wonder; do we see in the world what we bring to the world? Cheyenne said she was not convinced by the "Mormons," and she was not convinced by the Evangelicals. Her conversion was by the Spirit of Christ. If by "naive teenager" you mean she sounds happy, loving, kind, considerate, and even joyful and fulfilled, then I agree with you. Jesus helps us to recognize the truth by His teachings: "By their fruits ye shall know them. (KJV Matthew 7:20. See Matt. 7:13-27)" Paul explained to the saints in Galatia how to recognize what the fruits of the Spirit are: love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance (Galatians 5:22-23). Do these words apply to Cheyenne? If so, she bears the fruits of the Spirit, and we know Who she follows. That's how I see Cheyenne. Hopefully, M, we all follow the teachings of Christ Jesus when we only judge others the way we want to be judged ourselves (Matthew 7:1-5). I myself am so grateful and praise God that I can be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the same church Cheyenne joined. This is Christ's true church, with the full gospel, believing and teaching the whole Bible. God be with you, M.❤ May you find the peace you desire.🙂

I’m 80 years old and a convert when 33. I remember a young lady, Sally, who was baptized when in high school. Her family was affluent in the community. She took to the gospel almost immediately. I’m sure she went through some of the same struggles as you! She went to BYU, married a return missionary, and raised a large, beautiful family. Still, she has that same testimony gained as a youth. It seemed her parents didn’t interfere with her path at all. I could be wrong though. After all these years I stay in touch. I plan to sit down with her one day in the Celestial Kingdom and reminisce! BTW, I was her Branch President and was honored to be asked by her to perform her baptism those many years ago. From listening to Cheyennes testimony I wish I had been more attentive to her after her conversion, but apparently she didn’t need it. Donny and Marie Osmond were her inspiration to join the church. Sally has been one of my inspirations to stick it out! Cheyenne, you hold on! Thanks for your wonderful testimony. I hope it will be quoted from by angels.
