This is a very cleaned-up, sanitized and biased video. Smith's actually investment in this was very small but the way it was done guaranteed him huge profits if the bank succeeded. Yes, Smith claimed he was given "revelations" about founding a financial institution. Boxes supposedly filled with silver coins with glass tops were displayed in the society's office but these only had a layer of coins and the rest was sand. Hundreds of people lost every cent they owned when this institution failed and a lot of people left the LDS church over this. You also neglect to mention that JS was hit with many, many lawsuits over this all of them were either settled out of court or ruled against JS. Somehow Joseph's beleaguered, abused and deceived followers that stayed loyal to him despite everything managed to come up with around $37,500 to bail him out but apparently that huge sum was not enough. When faced with additional lawsuits Prophet Joseph Smith fled Kirtland and hightailed it off to Missouri, never to set foot in Ohio again. A much better, more accurate, less biased and more thorough video on this subject is entitled "The Kirtland Safety Society" and is elsewhere on KZbin.

The history of God's dealings with his children from The Old Testament, Book of Mormon, and New Testament is the epic story of all time. And we are living in it. GOD HAS ALWAYS BEEN IN CONTROL. I can't wait for more people to discover this glorious history.

If Brian is an active Mormon then he has a biased conclusion & he is using his own amature points he stated. It's in the churches favor to believe Joseph started it. If he found out and believed Joseph didn't start polygamy he could be subject to church discipline or excommunication.

There is no such thing as “time only.” You can identify apostates by their use of the phrase “time only,” which phrase doesn’t occur anywhere in the temple. The proper phrase is “for time,” not “time only.”

martyr noun a person who is killed because of their religious or other beliefs. Words have meanings and to suggest Joseph Smith was killed for any reason besides his religion is simply ignorant. Let's call a spade a spade.

Welcome back. The gospel is awesome! There is so much to learn. God opens doors of understanding as we gain testimonies and faith. For me I open one door thinking I new everything about a subject and suddenly I get humbled as another door opens and it’s a hole new world of understanding and it just keeps going as I have faith that God will open more doors as I study ponder and pray. It’s not all about worship it’s also about growth. Glad your back on this path.

I've always wondered why, to get the blessings restored, the church doesn't just have you go to the temple again
@krisdanieКүн бұрын
This made me tear up. Just picturing you sitting in the temple waiting room as you waited to have your blessings restored really touched me. It inspires me to see what more I can do to have a sacred temple experience and what I can do better to follow Christ. Thank you for sharing your story. I’m sure you will bless the lives of so many.

As someone who's been through that same process, I'd like to add one note: we hear all the time in general conference that NOW is the time to repent. Seriously, take advantage of it! If you're in need of repentance, the process takes time and it's tough.... but SO very worth it! Get it started now; don't procrastinate!

Maybe because they have read D&C 49:18 It says that anyone who preaches that you should abstain from meat is not of God. 1 Timothy 4 has a similar message. God has given us meat when we require it. However, D&C 49:21 makes it clear that no animals blood should be wasted. If you don't need the animal for food, it shouldn't be killed. I think that it's okay to lean towards a mostly vegetarian lifestyle, but anyone preaching entirely against meat eating ( like the Shakers) is not of God.
@joncharlotteschoenКүн бұрын
I would say 99.9% of people do not "kill their own food". So how do we reconcile such a statement? And what exactly does it mean to eat meat sparingly? Supposedly there was a reason for this back in the 1800s, but I truly don't see how it makes sense now or how to apply it in any practical manner. Other than... Clearly eating meat every single day isn't healthy. Beyond that, who knows? @@gwengold8154

I just want to add one thing that wasn't mentioned in this video that might make what they said about the 3 kingdoms of glory sound harsh/elitest. There will be 1,000 years during the Millenium that people have to learn and accept the fulness of the gospel. Not saying you should procrastinate the day of repentance or put off learning now, but Heavenly Father and Jesus love ALL of their children. Not just members of the church of Jesus Christ. They will give many opportunities to hear and accept.
