Joining the US Navy at 35 years Old*

This is my personal experience Joining the Navy at age of 35 Years old.

To anyone who wants to enlist 30+ years old just do it! Seriously if you are in great shape and good health then do not let anything or anyone stop you. DO NOT let a NUMBER (age) dictate your life. Age is nothing but a number it all is a physical aspect. The best thing about older recruits is the fact that they are less cry babies and are smoother to work with. Sure you are older and might be slower, but fuck it do you. Once you get to basic and graduate you will see fast age does not fucking matter! You got one life so fucking live it. Look at it like this go and enlist. If you survive basic fuck yeah if not hey fuck it at least you tried. Don't be scared do not let fear hold you back. If all these other soldiers did it so can you!

Ask if there are age waivers for certain specialties. Otherwise the only options would be Army and Air Force.

I don't know about the us navy, but in the British royal navy you can join up to 45, with previous military experience you can join up to 54. But must pass pre joining tests, swimming and recruitment interview. Good luck.

Its hard to join Air Force. You need to be young and smart, but still possible if you are over 30.

USA or reserves or Army national Guard cut off limit is 35 must ship and be in basic training before you turn 35 th birthday . USMC and reserves age limit 27 for active and reserves. USAF reserves and Air National Guard age limit cut off 42 USN and reserves for active must ship before your 35th Birthday reserves cut off is 39 the age limit for reserves just raised about year or two ago, it used to be 35 across the board. USCG active must ship before your 35th birthday Reserves is 39. This is the smallest branch of the Armed Forces. And if you do Reserves you better get ready to do some traveling .

@@Orbert yep! my shipout date is Jan 29th 2016. Enlisting in the navy as an E3 and will train to be a Quartermaster after basic training. I'm 36.

Are talking about joining the Navy at age 35. If so, I could give you a few tips. I joined the Navy at 36. I'm in A School. Should be done in a month.

@@Rece99 start off by researching what job you'd want to do. Have at least five you'll want to pick from. Don't be pressured to sign up if you don't want to do a certain job. Until you raise your hand and sign your contract the military can't make you do anything or agree to anything you don't want to do. Once you do sign and swear in you basically lose a lot of say so. Before going to bootcamp start drinking a lot of water, work on losing the weight you mention. Focus on being able to run at least 1.5 mile, do push ups and sit ups, work on your swimming. The bootcamp culture for a 35yr old can be a challenge, because your shipmates training with you will be between 17 to 19, and they'll have's few 20 something year olds too. Your life experience should help you a great deal. But your shipmates lack of maturity will frustrate you a lot. Being your age, you're going to be labeled grandma, but it's no disrespect. Be prepared to take orders from people who are way younger then you. Average person joins at about 18 so your RDCs maybe only 26 and be a 1st class petty officer giving you orders. But from my personal experience if they sense you are focus they typically won't mess with you. Theyll just ask why you decide to join at 35. For me when I explained to my RDC why I won a lot of their respect, so I didn't really get messed with. Those are a few things. Also if you have a college degree or at least 48 college credits you can enlist as an e3. Hope that helped. And be prepared to hear the word fu*k a lot. They use it as verbs, nouns, adjectives in every other word in a sentence

Yes. I'd strongly recommend learning how to swim before you get there. They'll teach you how to swim, but it's better to learn it before you get there. Nickymgtv is an HC here on YT so he could possible give you some good tips on that. Remember to research from legit sources also. People tend to make a lot of stuff up in the Navy.
