People need to start acknowledging joji's early music, before George was still not Joji yet but experimenting with his love for music, where he started to grow apart from his comedy, what started it all. Songs like You Suck Charlie, Thom, Rain On Me, etc, all of them deserve the same love that his current stuff gets. I honestly wish Joji kept the lo-fi production instead of going into a more mainstream pop, but it is what it is, I love the guy and love his music.

Too much like what I hear everywhere, on every radio station, on every TV show. He used to upload the music to a channel "anna gold", if you can't find the channel or the two songs uploaded there, try simply searching; "Chloe Burbank Vol 1". I think it was his first attempt at releasing an album, but I'll be god damned if the music isn't 11 times better than it is now. Anything up until his "In Tongues" EP is considered godlike imo. It's just different, style, and production. I personally enjoy "Thom"', "Plastic Taste" "Besidju", "Worldstar Money", "you suck charlie", "Unsaved Info", "They don't Understand", I could go on and on really. At the time, the music was REAL FUCKING GOOD. Since then, not only has Joji not been able to match that caliber, but nobody else has either. It's sad. This shit is like soul music to me now, I could damn near cry listening to any of them. More over the fact that Joji is passed a lot of things in his career, and that my favorite genre of his music is basically over. But hey, I don't have a choice but to not give a shit. I also LOVED his trap music. "Hood Rich" with Nick Colleti and Getter is an absolute BANGER. And I consider "Bitter Fuck" a trap song too, it sounds pretty trappy. That's from the "In Tongues" EP though. Which also had "Rain on Me", which was ORIGINALLY a 2014 track produced BEFORE Chloe Burbank even dropped. So it was probably a throwaway from that album. You can actually find a 7 second DEMO of the song with different lyrics on Joji's old Vine, and surprisingly, I almost like that version more. Low-Fi Joji has peaked imo, and I will gladly eat my words if proven wrong, but I fear that's not the case.

I think the meaning of this song is that the girls are having fun to cure the depression they are going through. Partying, alcohol and designer clothes as the medicine to be the person who people like, instead of the person they like to be. The video represents the image of how they show to be, the music represents the unconscious voices in their head. The lesson being: Even though it may seem like some people are having it better than you do. You never know what they are really going through. Joji remixes is in a way that it sounds like he wants to and takes the medicine, but in itself, it's not enough. Laments over what has happened to his life ("Don't be what you want to"). It's very relatable in a really bad way. I hope he's in a better place now, with all the success, and that the same might come to everyone who experience the same anxiety.
