I think Vinne Colaiuta, Dennis Chambers and Dave Weckl are just as good as Meyer if not more so - both heavily influenced by Buddy. Can't forget Tony Royster Jr.

You know why Vinnie got sacked from Sting's back? Vinnie is an amazing drummer, as is Chambers and Weckl. Even though his bpm is not always solid, jojo is an amazing, inventive joy to behold.

i finally got this guy's hand techniques learned... took almost forever.. there is a method i think i figured out how to really , i mean really teach it to ppl , Anderson Paak uses the same push-pull/moeller hybrid technique.... there was one youtuber who inspired me to learn it. he explained it proper to me and i created a step by step instruction for myself to learn the technique. there is a method now... not just this crazy shit where they tell you to look in a mirror.. soon enough i will start lessons, maybe after the winter i set up a small studio

@IepsyI8 жыл бұрын
Really dope. I feel like much of the older Nerve stuff was meant as a showcase for Jojo to go nuts. There were some exceptions back then, but this new stuff feels restrained. Like they're more concerned with making sure the music is good instead of just virtuoso showmanship that only other drummers would care about.
@Cunterpoint4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, his style became mature, virtuosity != seeing how fast you can bang on everything
@Virtual_C_3 жыл бұрын
People change. Overtime everyone's more concerned about how to make something sound musically better rather that lyrical (more catchy stuck rather than meaning, wordplay/rhetoric, etc.) Jojo is the same just different.

10:38 - Jojo plays a four on the floor beat kick-hat-kick&snare while with his left hand creates a snare roll build-up. He does has some trouble, but still, Is that insane or what?

Alexander DeSchutter It's stuff like that that keeps me practicing, because I can see even the best have to work hard. I might not become a drummer of world class, but it makes me feel like I can accomplish something
@algmusicuk8 жыл бұрын
I'm a little confused why you have decided to highlight what I would consider is a dot in a patchwork of excellence. I'm not sure what it proves either? Jojo has produced electronic music with a humanistic feel in an incredible way. People who highlight such small detail publicly are usually just trying to use it to hide their own insecuirties and failures. I hope you're not doing that
@alphavoyager8 жыл бұрын
I didn't highlight his mistake, but his incredible idea and the fact that he's not afraid to do it, even if he makes a small mistake or two. I like that spirit. You've got my comment all wrong.

The music is; - encounters of another kind - it's like accessing another level of altered State of reality - surfing on extra spacial dimensions - mystical, magical yet in gentle groveness - the drums are inside of the rythems yet all encompassing - JJM just is teleporting us into another universe - the atmosphere of the music is something totally new to ones senses. Actually needs more sense elements to absorb more of JJM and his group

@salimn.10978 жыл бұрын
+Robert Fennis They already have some songs that fit the style. Catachresis for example, Ulaan Bataar, maybe Them... You can listen to bands like Noisia and Black Sun Empire for more. Noisia even has some very technical programmed drum parts in most of their releases, and Split The Atom (by Noisia) is a reference in Neurofunk.
@robertfennis60888 жыл бұрын
