Aww geez, PS3 huh. As a wee little lad, this was my first RPG. Fun fact, I beat PS4 before this one. The reason? There's literally only one NPC in the game that hints you where you need to go at one point, and they say something like "Monsters come from Layan fountains, especially the fountains of Shusoran!" and the little kid me didn't understand that means to walk into the bloody fountains in Shusoran. I ended playing so much trying to figure out what to do I was able to buy two Royal Needlers for Rhys, each costing 20 000 - when enemies drop like a dozen per fight. And those Needlers are also the best weapons you can get until the very end... yeah it kinda made the second and third generations a joke when I finally found somebody to tell me to walk into the fountain like a decade later (this was before the internet was a thing!). About Sean, he is actually by far the strongest in the game. Well, not personally sure, but his party is mountains stronger than the other third generation parties - despite having the same party members, the stats (and sometimes their portraits if I recall right) differ on each of four third generation stories. The caves and the temples are actually pretty cool once you understand what the PS3 world actually is. Once you reach one of the satellites, you know. After that, where they (the caves and the temples) take you starts to make a lot of sense. Also, you missed the Anti spell. Heals Poison, so no need to worry about that as long as Mieu has enough TP for it. You know, ANTIdote. But hey, look at me, rambling about an ages old mediocre game. I love it because of nostalgia, but even I have to admit that there's rather little RP for a RPG game... and the characters walk so, so slowly. And random encounters every couple of steps. Oh lord why.

That was like the only NPC that actually says anything helpful in the game, that I found. As I understand Sean himself is physically the weakest of the 4 possible final protagonists, and with the value of the physical attack in this game, and his somewhat flimsy defense he's pretty weak, his strength comes from his magic, so healing which can help, but primarily in protracted fights. The rest of his party is identical to Crys' which is to say its an average party with decent strength, though Nail's kids parties are built more for survivability. Conceptually I agree, and the whole secret to the world itself is one of the best parts to the game, which is why I didn't want to spoil it. But on a functional level the tunnels, and dungeons are all very similar feeling and it actively hurts orientation and the dungeon crawling as a whole, and the map itself is awkward, hard to understand, and really just confusing. I actually didn't, it's a healing spell one of the few useful magics in the game, though I will admit I had an active aversion to it, as I preferred to save my nebulously expended TP on group heals as a priority. I mean I made a 40 minute long video on it, so I totally get the passion for it, I like it but it has a lot of issues, and sadly I see what it could be and what they were aiming for and how far off it ended up being.
