Part 5 feels mostly like a side story with barely anything to do with the other parts imo, like there's only a few returning characters (Koichi only appears early on, Jotaro makes a cameo and Polnareff's just at the end) and the links to other parts are fairly minor (Diavolo purchasing the stand arrows and Giorno being Dio's sun.) You could probably skip 5 and go straight to 6 without any confusion honestly
