You have to remember Jojo wasn't raised like a typical kid. In interviews about the girls who were under Abby, several of them have said they spent COPIOUS amounts of time with Abby, dancing. So much so that some of them, like Maddie, only did school for an hour a day. These girls spent so much of their childhood being adults they never got to grow up. Now that Jojo is old enough to drink, old enough to drive, she's being the teenager she didn't get to be but it's extremely self-destructive and damaging to her reputation and image. Miley Cyrus went off the deep end as well after Disney and when Hemsworth left her (which was around the same timeframe roughly). The only difference is Miley wasn't necessarily this bad. Her "we can't stop" video did have drug references but we never actually saw Miley doing those drugs or drinking the way Jojo does.

Sad part is that Jess has said that at various points along the way she told JoJo if you want to stop at any time you can, so JoJo thinks that she chose this for herself. JoJo has also said that when she turned 18 she gave Jess half her money because they were worried about how they were going to support themselves now that she is an adult. Couple thoughts i have on her: she's been presented as a product her whole life. She's gotten fame so early and been made to feel super special her whole adolescent life. She became 21 and wanted to make a change, but unlike other young adults, she decided to act as if she's the ONLY one who's ever done anything, ever. She wants to be this edgy, crazy, weird girl, but she's just lost. She thinks pretending to drink, bragging about "drinking so much it's so crazy, like omg" makes her even more edgy. She thinks that omg she's just so wacky and weird and original, but it's just cringe. She's completely lost, honestly. She's so insecure bc she doesn't know who she is, so she keeps playing this character as if people will find it genuine. The rage baiting, the constant "I'm the first/only one who's EVER done xyz," and heavy reliance on her being gay is too much. Nothing whatsoever is wrong with being gay and being really proud of it, but at times, it almost feels like she's cosplaying a bit to get people to believe her. Sure, she's gay and that's great, but when speaking about relationships and things relating to that, she seems like she has to think of the most relatable responses or illicit the bigger reactions to it. I think she DOES want to be loved and be in love, and maybe she is right now. She didn't have loads of dating til she was older, and still navigating what it's like to have a real relationship. I think that she's looking for real love and adoration bc she's lacked it in her life. As i said at the beginning of my comment, her mother and everyone around her have made her a product and cash cow, rather than treat her like a real person. So now she's this caricature who tries to do everything as crazy as possible to continue being as special as everyone told her she was her whole childhood. Honestly, she needs therapy and a break from the spotlight to find out who she truly is, and what she truly wants from life. But that's just my opinion.

Having been in choir as a soprano for 13 years now, I can tell you that the causes for vocal chord problems and ruptures very often are because of poor singing technique (including skipping vocal warmup), poor voice maintenance, overuse of vocal chords without appropriate breaks (we did 10-15mins per 1h spent singing), and stuff like smoking, drinking alcohol, or screaming excessively. And especially if you ignore the signs of these, it'll just get worse unless you get it treated and actively do something about it. Before performances, we always avoid stuff like iced foods/drinks, caffeine, dairy products, amongst other things which in different ways contribute to poorer singing performance. I don't know what JoJo has done, but the most common problem is quite simply poor maintenance of the vocal cords and bad singing technique. I know many people whose voices are all raspy and lower due to those two reasons (as well as smoking but that one's obvious)

Looking into her own reality tv show (Siwa's Dance Pop Revolution) reveals both Jojo and her mother treated the contestants in a very similar way to how Abby treated Jojo and her costars. This not about who wants to have a child, bring up a child and be a parent, Jake. The thing for women in a rerationship like theirs is: Am I or you going to be pregnant with our baby? To us the question is "Who will carry the baby? Me or you? Or should we both carry one of our babies? Or should we adopt?" But I guess that's not evident to you as you are not a woman. "Giving up" carrying one of your children is not a question you are faced with. To bisexual or lesbian women that is a question you need to answer if you want to have a family with someone of your same sex. Even deciding if the egg comes from one or the other partner is relevant as both have eggs and one can be "a surrogate" for the other -if they decide that one of the two will not carry any of the children but they want more than one. Then they can both have a biological child. My problem with this isn't understanding why they try and figure this out. The problem is she is pushing her pregnancy-wish on an 18 year old girl friend 4 months into their relationship... (!)
