Animals aren’t ’inanimate objects.’ As that would mean they have no need for food, water, air, or just moving in general, they are beings just like us except they just don’t have as good of intelligence as the human race nor do (most) of them live long enough to even try developing a civilization so advanced as our own cities and so on. But, I highly disagree referring to animals as objects since that would imply they should be treated as such. Or slow torture through strangulation, eviscerations and venom? I don't agree with how we butcher and treat our food animals, I believe they should all be treated kindly and respectfully - but it is totally natural for people to eat meat and for some of us it's necessary. I understand if they are against the chemicals in processed foods and the usage of chemical pesticides, the poor conditions of slaughterhouses and such, but not protecting every single animal from being killed. Also, cows on dairy farms with milking robots line up to go get milked by the robots on their own. They get a treat while being milked, and they enjoy having the pressure relieved from their udders. Obviously not every single dairy farm is run perfectly or even to legal standards but the majority of them are, and the cows are treated humanely. Animal husbandry and stewardship is obviously something her jumbled little brain can't wrap itself around but we have a responsibility to care for the animals we bred into domestication that can no longer survive without human assistance... And that means milking them and using the products from their bodies responsibly...not just the milk but also the meat and many other parts as well. Bovine and porcine children played a huge part in saving my legs from partial amputation. There are tons of life supporting and life saving medications and products that are derived from animal byproducts and i honestly don't think people like this truly understand what would happen to healthcare if we stopped raising and using cattle and pigs the way we do. There are plenty of ways they could *actually* make a difference for livestock that's *actually* being mistreated...but thats not what theyre doing because it wouldnt bring them attention the way this behavior does.

@Chumpess_X4 ай бұрын
@@stuartmac910 Often their idea of ‘helping’ puts the livestock in more danger, and sets it up for more health issues in the future. Not every farm animal is bred for consumption. Take for example when city dwellers decided to come to the country and take a baby goat (kid) from a farm that was looking after their animals…they stole the goat, kept it in a house, fed it food unsuitable for goats, and had it wear a diaper/nappy. The goat was malnourished, filthy and missing its mother when it was finally found. Then there’s people who are upset about the docking of sheep tails, having no idea about the issue of flies and the damage they can do to an undocked sheep. Look it up if you like, but I suggest you have an empty stomach before reading about it. When it comes to dairy cows, they are very well looked after…at least if you’re doing it right. If you intend on “freeing” a dairy cow, and it’s used to being milked everyday, you’re going to run into problems that will cause more harm to the cow than anything a farmer will do to it. Mastitis is no joke. But none of this will change your mind, just as you won’t change mine. You’ll continue to assume I’m evil and all for animal exploitation, and I’ll continue to think your comment makes you look foolish and uneducated.
@Chumpess_X4 ай бұрын
@@stuartmac910 Wow, okay…the sense you are making amounts to zero. Yes, cows would have suffered from mastitis before humans came along and started milking them. If a calf dies, or refused to feed, you’re going to have problems…the oversupply can cause an infection. So again, if you ‘free’ a dairy cow, and don’t milk it, it will cause pain and distress. Modern medical intervention is just as useful for animals as it is for humans…so technically we did come along and save the day because we now have medications that can quickly deal with infections…including mastitis. We also deal with other conditions, one example being bloat. You can’t blame that on humans, and we have a way to help relieve such conditions, making the cow more comfortable and even saving its life. I don’t deny there are people who treat animals poorly, whether they be pets or livestock..but I think you’ll find the cows at a dairy farm are generally quite happy and healthy. But…back to my last paragraph in my previous comment. I’ll let you have the last word, throw out your logical fallacies, I’ve said all I need to say. But you go off…I’m empathetic to the difficulties many vegans have in not having the last word…so I’ll give you that luxury. I’ve got work to do.

Hey, on the 'non human people' part. When I studied philosophy the definition of a person in some context was a living being that was self conscious. Some smart animals fall into that category, octopi for example, they know how small they can make themselves in order to fit into small cracks and also which to avoid because they are self conscious about their limits of their body. Crows also recognize themselves in the mirror, like some apes. Normally, a human baby can recognize themselves in the mirror around the year mark when they first begin to move around. I would strongly suspect this vegan bloke means this principle. There is work from 'Peter Singer' on this, If you are interested. Cheers.

I do think we need better conditions for animals that are in slaughterhouses. However, the argument of, "do you think the animals asked to be killed" is kind of irrelevant, considering that animals are hunted and eaten alive in the wild. They didn't ask to be eaten either, but that's the circle of life.

I'm a zoologist, no one cares more about animal welfare than I do. I agree about factory farms, they're abhorrent. I want to change them. But there are lots of lovely farms where the animals are happy, run around in the pasture living their best cow/sheep/chicken life, and are dispatched instantly. And we use all of the animal in respect of their life. That's how it should be. Vegan diets are awful for the environment. Soybeans are a monoculture that wipes out countless acres of indigenous forest every year. Granted so do cows, but I'm just pointing out the hypocrisy.

Being against farming for the sake of animals doesn't make sense when we consider that many animals are obligate carnivores or need some amount of meat as part of their diet. Dogs, cats, reptiles, amphibians, insects, hamsters, birds, among several other pet animals NEED meat. The reality we need to be focusing on what we can do to improve the lives and deaths of meat animals. They are part of the food chain and there is not a way around that. Meat animals deserve kindness and compassion. They feed not only us, but our domestic animals too.

Idk man, restaurants don't owe it to every person who has made a dietary choice to have options on the menu for them. You don't see vegetarians behaving this way, or even leaving bad reviews on non-vegetarian restaurants that don't provide a vegetarian option on their menu. Why is this sociopathic behavior limited to veganism? The aggressive, psychotic behavior towards the rest of society is so strange to me...if you were at least tolerable to be around people might listen to what you have to say and consider moving towards a more vegan lifestyle, but instead you're venomous and full of rage, and you tear down people who don't strictly share to a diet that's really not very healthy for a lot of people, *especially* people with still developing brains and bodies. The hostility is WILD. 🤦♀️

@@Jake_Baz Private businesses have the right to refuse service for any legal reason and vegans aren't a protected class. I agree with her stance, it would be much better economically for us to all be vegan but like you said she needs to go about this differently. My husband worked at a pork plant, and I did an interview there to work there as well and let me just say we didn’t eat pork for about 3 years seeing what went down in that factory. It is inhumane and the 1000s of pigs they have in the back know what’s coming cause they can smell it. You can smell it in the parking lot so I know they can in the barn. It’s so sad. After my interview and walk through I basically told them I cannot work here because I was under the impression it would be me cutting cold cuts of pork, but no they slaughtered them there and everything. It’s awful. I don’t understand how the people in the slaughtering line live with themselves because they all 🔪 at LEAST 300 pigs a day and that’s just one factory!! It’s sad to think about what’s going through the minds of all those pigs. I was vegan for a long time in highschool but it got to the point where I was not eating a good diet and couldn’t afford a good vegan diet and was essentially starving due to not having the right amount of protein and everything else and I had to revert back to just eating (as I called them growing up) poor people meals but I definitely feel as if the world would be a better place if we all either were vegan/vegetarian/pescatarian or it would also be good if we just raised our own meat instead of corporations using a huge factory to do all the terrible things they do everyday.

I would like to clarify one point in your video, cows will not pass away if they are not milked. They "dry up" meaning they just stop producing milk. Diary cows are bred to produce large amounts of milk, more than a calf could utilize which is why we milk them. In my opinion, being vegan is not morally superior to someone who is an omnivore. Life eats life. Animals die for food or animals die in the process of growing non-animal products (whether because they lose habitat for farmland or are unintentionally killed directly through harvesting methods). Being vegan should be respected. Not being vegan should be respected. Veganism should not be touted as a cure all, save all ideology however.
