I mean, I did lose my voice a few times while recording my cover of Melt but that’s for three reasons: 1. I’m not a professional. I just sing for fun. 2. The song’s in Japanese and while I am learning Japanese rn, I’m not fluent so I had to rerecord over and over because I kept mispronouncing stuff. 3. THAT SONG IS HIGH AS HECK. I even lowered it and my vocal cords still hurt like a day later. Karma’s in English which I’m assuming is Jojo’s first language, and the highest note in it isn’t that bad, just your standard pop range. What’s her excuse lol

And most of the artists never disclose the fact that they did. Jojo actually did disclose the fact that she bought karma, and she doesn’t need to mention it at every single interview. Legally the song is hers and she has the right to call it her song. I’m not surprised that people don’t know Jojo’s podcast, I didn’t know it existed either until doing research to find proof of her claiming to have written karma. I didn’t know why people are saying that she did when I never saw that and I went looking for proof and never found it. I wish people would do an ounce of fact checking before spreading lies. No matter how unsavory the person is, nobody needs lies spread about themselves.

Jojo posted a podcast 2 WEEKS ago talking about how the producer Antonina (btw one of the og writers) pitched the song to Jojo and encouraged her to buy it. No one stole from anyone, Jojo bought the rights to the song. Brit Smith recorded it before but it wasn't her song either. It's a common thing in pop music. Half the American hits in the 50s and early 60s came from the Brill Building in NYC where songwriters would write songs for others to record, and artists would buy the rights & record them. Jojo claiming she wrote the song is ridiculous, but she didn't steal from anybody if she rightfully bought it.
