Anime: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 5: Vento Aureo (ジョジョの奇妙な冒険 黄金の風)
Episode 22: Narancia is suddenly attacked by a shark Stand named Clash, which rips off his tongue. Unfortunately, Clash can teleport between liquids and remains unseen by all but Narancia. Moreover, when Giorno saves him from suffocating and gives him a new tongue, Narancia begins to only tell lies, giving his teammates falsehoods. Indeed, a duo of Passione operatives, Tiziano and Squalo, are ambushing the group, using Tiziano's Talking Head to force Narancia to lie.

This arc is like the opposite of Liar Liar, a character is desperate to say things truthfully, but a power beyond his understanding is preventing him from doing so. He’s also kinda acting like Jim Carrey in that movie, in a physical sense, only here it’s really stressful since what he’s saying is putting his team in danger

@@shadowagent7361 it's such a great ability: it doesn't just make you say or do the opposite of what you're trying to do, it makes you say or do the opposite of what you WANT to do. narancia only managed to exploit the ability by saying something he really genuinely meant to say, and which then gets it to say something opposite which confused his attackers.

They kinda ruined this whole scene by removing some of the best moments of this chapter: 1) After Narancia tries to get Giorno away from the Boat, he was saying to him "Do you get it? 2+2=5, 3x3=8, Bruce Lee is a girl, Stallone is a girl too, and Sharks are Plants!" 2) Anime-Onlys complained on why didn't he tried to write anything... well he did in the manga. He writes "Watch 'er tits wobble! I got a Stand beneath my belt!" instead of what he intended. 3) Giorno asks Narancia "Are you okay?", to which he answers "Yep, i'm fine" and then proceeds bumping his head against the ground. Bruno later asks Narancia the same thing, and Narancia gets an inner scream. (Additionally, in Russian translation, it was adapted so Giorno asks Narancia "Did you any drugs?" and Narancia answers "Yes, it was skronk" and then starts bumping his head against ground yelling "No! No!") By removing those moments, they made the whole scene feel boring. They could've fit them if they haven't added that useless scene at the beginning where Mista asks for food, and could just start the episode with restaurant scene. Sure, it would look confusing, that we had all the dramatic moments in the previous episode, and now they are chilling in the restaurant despite being hunted traitors... But that's how it was in the manga, and the most fun part is that the restaurant scene looks strange after previous episode... So yeah, they could've pass on adding the additional scene at the beginning of the episode, and add more of Narancia's antics from the manga. Dammit, one of my favorite arcs is ruined by removal of those moments...

Not gonna lie... some the animation isn't looking too good this episode. Like look at abbacchio at 2:04... Jeez. It's still really good, and there's some nice burts of good expressions and close ups in there, but it's clear this is the equivalent to the Kira and Shinobu scene of the part. It's the least relevant to the story so they put less effort into this one's animation so the other episodes could look even better. It's fine with me, but it's still not great. Hopefully it'll get better from here. It is pretty bad timing tho, coming right after the whole digibro "JoJo's animation is horrible" rant.

I like narancia's expressions tho. They look great in this episode. Squalo and Tizziano also look great. And hey, it's fine if some of the background characters don't look as good. As long as the animation is focused on the important bits you can add as many funny smears and background characters as you want. I point out 2:04 cause the attention is drawn to abbacchio especially. When a face like that is the focus in the frame it's not as acceptable. I still have mad respect for the animators of David productions, and I'm hyped to see how it continues.

I think they learned their lesson from Part 4. And even in a QUALITY episode like this we get bursts of some nice animation like when Crash grabs Giorno.

@@Andrew-fi1sd As I said, there are some parts that look really good in this episode. I'm not saying it's bad at all, and it's nothing close to part 4. It's just that the part 5 quality is so good that I noticed the slight drop, but I still think it looks fine.

Matheus Tran it’s really hard to say anything with Talking Heads controlling the tongue. By controlling the tongue (and maybe by some extent the whole mouth), it can make any word it wants so long as the victim provides the sound.

Brian Abad Talking Head controls all communication. It made him point into the bathroom instead of the canal. They cut it out here, but in the manga Narancia also tried to write out the truth on his arm with a pen, but he ended up writing a lie too.

So thing is, I think the colors of light auras Stand users generate are based on their Stand's appearances or abilities (Most of them). Squalo is blue, since Clash can warp through liquid, and Tiziano's color is based on its Stand's appearances.
