very good video, i disagree with one thing though. i think jobin's death is well written. jobin dies like that, in a almost meaningless way, because that's perfectly in line with his character. jobin believed the right way to percieve life was "strong win over the weak", that's what led him to live by that philosophy and also die to that philosophy, jobin dies by someone simply stronger than him, he dies like a bug splattered by a shoe, because that's what he believed in and the narrative intends to tell us that's what life will if you decide to live by jobin's believes. in jojo righteousness always prevails and in jojolion we see two wrong paths, jobin's and tooru's crumble in their own according ways

norisuke doesn't die btw, in the ending the family does tell josuke that he's in the hospital, recovering from the injuries that jobin inflicted.

I loved part 8, My only issue with part 8 is how tooru was introduced as main antagonist. It felt like Araki introduce tooru out of nowhere.

yes and no imo. i understand wanting to see Tooru more before he actually showed up but it isn’t all too different from Diavolo imo, in that the “mob boss” and “head doctor” were these mysterious characters who we knew would be revealed pretty much right at the end. the only difference is we never really saw Tooru/WoU monologuing like Diavolo lol

12:22 this actually creates some plot problems Toru cannot be alluded to in the manner you described because then it would lead us to ask wHY Toru and the hospital side of Rock Human Organisation do anything against Josuke especially if they know what he's doing The way JoJolion answers this is by saying that these 2 groups do not communicate with each other as said by Holly Indeed, the hospital group didn't know anything about Josuke until it was too late I think the best way to truly "fix" Toru is to have Toru invite Yasuho in his house(which is a very personal space and would tell us a lot about Toru, also telling us what Yasuho might've thought about their relationship as she herself seems to avoid that question) while it is raining, ask her a few things, perhaps flashback to the past to flesh him out more The thing that really messes me up about Toru is NOT his late introduction or how sudden he can feel first time reading it since there are barely any telltale clues(which I think is very deliberate) Rather, my issue is how some of his actions are not explained well We know what he does and how that might affect characters, but wHY does he do it With Yasuho, it's clearer, wished we saw more examples of how he used her But not so much with Rai and how he plays in into his past JoJoLion always skirts the line between explaining a lot and not explaining at all with a slightly greater tendency to underexplain(which I personally prefer as I'm into stories which require greater attention and thinking from the audience, a mystery should still feel mysterious even after the reveal imo) There is only like one plot point that I genuinely think was dropped(the flashback man who might be an earlier design for someone)

I can see where your coming from but I always kind of found Damo different from the other rock humans. He kind of seemed like the boss of his “squad” so if anybody would have communication with the hospital it would be him. I think at least saying that there is another group and that they're just the tip of the iceberg would have at least gotten the ball rolling.

​@@LoungeAct_no this is still a problem Remember what Damo said, he said that he tediously went through multiple hospital records for months to find out the suspicious guy that stole his Locacaca However, if they had access to hospital resources, it should've been abundantly clear who exactly stole the fruit In fact, considering how Holly is the only one in JoJolion shown to have been experimented on, it is more likely that a person close to her would be the suspect and so finding the suspect should've been easy But it was not, indicating that there is a major gap between the way Damokan group operates and the hospital organisation Urban Guerilla used to look down on the Damokan group as a bunch of drug dealers And Holly indicates that the hospital side basically used Damokan group for their "clinical trial", she also said that they "definitely did not know that they(hospital side) had made their way into the hospital's staff, and in that panel we are shown Damo as well Damo is hence not in a special place here Also, indicating that there is some other group to Josuke would've also caused a potential plot issue Also, Toru WAS introduced significantly earlier in the form of a silhouette at the end of Ozone Baby arc This already indicated that there was more to the organisation than just the Damokan group Furthermore, the fact that Holly exists at all already indicates that someone is in the hospital pulling the strings That someone also showed up in Poor Tom's arc And this brings me to what makes Toru's position so special If we bring him up any earlier, there's no mystery left If we bring him up later, it's too late The appeal of Toru's introduction lies squarely on how sudden it is but also how it makes sense in hindsight since the question of "who caused Holly's weakness" is brought up again after a long break

Fair enough, I retract my point about Damo but I still feel like Toru introduction was too hasty. I don’t think that Toru himself should have been introduced at the start but I think the idea of a head doctor or main villain should have been introduced earlier. So when Toru was introduced and Jobin is killed doesn’t feel rushed.

@@LoungeAct_ I can understand where you're coming from For me personally, storywriting has always been about striking a balance where what is being balanced depends more on the type of the story If it's some epic like Iliad or Mahabharata, it's better to lay out the details but for a story like JoJoLion, decisions to cloud details just enough to make it possible to figure stuff out(especially with hindsight) are good decisions JoJoLion typically does do this Every storywriting decision is a trade-off between something and so one decision which makes sense for one story doesn't for another As for Toru, I've already outlined what I would've personally liked and it wasn't related to his introduction as I don't have a problem with that As for Jobin, I think his sudden death is an indication of his Karma Remember that most characters didn't die early during calamity because their karma was good Though Josuke did murder, he did it under righteous circumstances in self defence Whereas Jobin's murders were all his, he didn't need to murder His "right path" was wrong His ideology was wrong And so, his karma was bad Everyone with bad karma seem to die really really quickly under calamity The guy that killed school children died the moment he got caught up in calamity Jobin murdered at least 2 people, worked with an organisation that's very dangerous and then almost killed his own dad So he would die quickly So even here, we see tradeoffs of storywriting Keep him too long and it implies that his right path was justified Keep him for not long at all and it creates some level of dissatisfaction The trade-off lies between being true to your tale vs being serviceable to your audience And personally, I prefer the former in most cases JoJoLion as a story, because of its structure, is bound to fall into these predicaments more than other parts And that's perhaps also why it is my favorite part

Beginning of the part 8 I though it was second most boring part because it was only set in one town just like part 4 and it was like that until I started seeing bond between josuke and higashikata family. After that if became 2nd favorite part for me after the part 7

Sorry but I have to interject that they were supposed to go into separate booths to compose their verses without knowing what the other had done but Bowie cheated and had listened in on Freddie. This made Freddie furious and he was about to cancel the session but the band cooked him down and they finished the song. As you say, one of the greatest songs of all time.
