They’re mad because the ones that are successful and popular isn’t the types of movies that they collectively *want* to succeed and be popular, but rather the ones that they despise, which kills these types of people. From what I can tell this last few years (arguably around a decade, but with increasing frequency), the kinds of films they want to see successful are the ones like the marvels, birds of pray, etc and most of these types desperately want movies like the first joker movie, Deadpool and Wolverine, etc to fail. Even at times when some of the movies they wanted to be successful, they’re not happy with, because audiences ended up liking the Ken character the most, while these types generally seemed to have wanted him to be the one hated, mocked, and ridiculed. They attack fans because in their minds, fans are the bad guys for liking the wrong things and not liking the right things. They desperately want to be the taste makers, not the ones who make things that are he fans already have a taste for.

Todd Phillips didn't even want to make this movie until WB back a truckload full of money into his driveway after the first one did so well, so he took it and made something he wanted for himself. Have to say Mr H, I was pleasantly surprised by this. While I liked 'Joker' it has massive issue for me, the 'meet up' with Bruce Wayne. For me the Wayne's should have stayed in the back ground and and been a fleeting back drop to the story. Just references and brief glimpses was enough and maybe how their regeneration of Gotham and presence in the city affects people like Arthur /Joker. This on the other hand does something different and does continue and concludes the story. And does it very well. I though the acting, story and cinematic presence of the film was again different and somewhat new and refreshing. The two leads play off each other well and the court room scene is really well diretects and shines as the high of the film. You cannot redo the first film but it's another interesting take on 'joker' and does undo a sorta flaw in the original (spoilers - cannot say) story. Did not mind the ending, sorta fits in with the original and what the arch of this film is. All in all was a decent sequal to a film I really liked

Thought first joker was great, but this was better. Best film so far I seen in theater in 2024. It helps to be familiar with The Band Wagon a movie with a dark, pretentious musical drama with a Faust-Devil played by same character. Also the film that gave us the That's Entertainment song.
