In the Disney animated movie, Snow White stumbled across the dwarves’ house and was allowed to stay there. Her repayment for their kindness was her cleaning and cooking for them. This is woman empowerment. She is bringing a useful skill set to the table for a group who have their own skills but lack what she has. She is paying her way forward with work, similar to how the dwarves pay for what they have by doing a days work as well. She isn’t handed anything by the dwarves. How is it people don’t see this as woman empowerment? Have people forgotten how difficult it was to do all of these household chores Snow White does without a dishwasher, washing machine, dryer and Rumba?

He's right. Snow White is based on a story from German mythology that was eventually written down in Grimm's Fairy Tales. She got her name from a queen who wished for a child with skin as white as snow, lips as red as blood, and hair as black as ebony. After pricking her finger on her needle while sewing by an open window during a winter snowfall, the queen died giving birth to a baby girl who she named Sneewittchen, meaning "white snow." Changing a mythological character's origin story would never be tolerated in another culture. Disney should stop revising history and make something ORIGINAL, then they can cast whoever they want.

But this is just the published version and the Brothers Grimm simply mixed their sources. There were also other versions of Snow White spread through the centuries. @@Leamichellefan2244 If you know much about movies, and especially fairly well known actors, they can usually have huge impacts on the script and personality of the characters they are playing. It doesn’t help that she was definitely picked for the role for a very obvious reason, but she definitely also had a lot of influence on the story. Remember when they filmed the original Star Wars, Carrie Fisher and her people nearly completely rewrote that entire script and made it better. When Heath Ledger played the Joker, he altered so much about how the Joker was portrayed and his own lines to give the best performance of his career. They all heavily influence their characters.

I don't care if she is in the next Dune movie. I would have to write that one off without even thinking twice about it. I refused to even watch the new Hunger Games movie because of her. I don't even like the Hunger Games but I was going to give it a shot because I had a chance to watch it for free but didn't want to see her face. I can barely even stand seeing her in still photographs at this point... it's like you can hear her annoying voice through a photograph. You can feel the narcissism seeping through it. Also, the origin story doesn't make sense for Snow White. Like, how did she 'survive' a snowstorm? Was she literally born IN the blizzard? Because being born in a castle while there happens to be a snowstorm outside isn't really a 'survival' accomplishment 😂 There's a lesser known fairy tale about a different snow white (the one with rose red). If I was forced to make a new origin for snow White's name, I would make it to where the queen somehow knew this other snow white when she was young and had her life changed through an act of kindness (maybe the other snow white saved her life or something) and named her daughter after her when she was forgotten by the rest of the world. Not only would that make more sense than the stupid snowstorm origin, but it would be a really cool connection between the two fairy tales and be the perfect setup for a prequel about Snow White and Rose Red. I actually came up with a universe where the evil queen turned out to be Rose Red and part of the reason she hates Snow White so much is because she reminds her of her sister who (in her mind) betrayed her and took everything from her when she was young.

It must be exhausting to be someone like her. Don't get me wrong, as a brown girl myself (also Latina), as a kid, I did think it sucked there was no Latina princess, but I didn't think hard about it. Yes, the only ones who looked like me were Pocahontas and Princess Jasmine, but I didn't let that stop me from loving princesses or these movies. When it all came down to it, though, my favorite movie ended up being Alice in Wonderland (1951). I didn't revolve my entire identity around being brown. I personally don't see why people hate on the casting. They can literally just use some lighten foundation makeup or filters as in how they would have done with every other actress that auditioned. Even then her skin is not even that type of brown (as in how people think brown skin would be. For example : Halle Berry).
