Joker's nightmare isn't just that Batman is gone. It's that no one is resisting against him. Joker is an agent of chaos. He wants to fight. He wants to have consequences. But when his plans just succeed, he hates it. The boat scene is a big one. He got uranium so easily that he just got bored. Hell, he said it in the start of the comic. It's not about winning.

Obviously this is why it's a comic book flaw, but yeah, if you have the resources to plant bombs at highly secure and trafficked areas, there's no way you can just "be ignored" if you're threatening lives.
@PhirePhlame Жыл бұрын
And then the Batman and Bruce still being in the news (many versions of Joker know Bruce is Batman but refuse to acknowledge it) is itself another fear of his: that, no matter what he does, even if it's as earth-shattering as killing Batman, that dreaded sense of normalcy is still just around the corner. The mark he's left didn't last, so to him it may as well have never been left at all. Thus, if that's how the aftermath of such a thing turns out, then from his perspective it calls into question what the point even is. I guess, in that sense, the Batman he fought in this nightmare was a metaphor for his whole sense of purpose.

Hmm... I think Joker's Nightmare in this case is not quite "I am nothing without Batman," but perhaps the fear of everything he does becoming... mundane. Expected. And no longer shocking. Perhaps Batman magnified his appeal but without him... he slowly fades into the background no matter how outlandish he is. In this story, this nightmare, he as done everything from cracking dark jokes to preaching anti-capitalist speeches in a company office to actually murdering people in a public area and... nobody bats an eye. They brush it off with "oh, that's just him" or "ah, that man just died tragically." And they then continue life as normal, even dragging Joker along with them to everyday things. And slowly but surely he gets swallowed up by it all to the point that the rumors of Batman returning don't spur him to any action because... "what's the point? It's not Batman, not THE Batman. MY Batman. He's dead and rotting in my closet." Perhaps his nightmare is that his chaos and worldview isn't enough to fight against the banality of the world. But that's with a cursory scan of the story as a whole.

#2 of the jokers knight terror cover is freaking awesome. He sitting on the couch watching TV and batman's corpse is just coming out ready to pounce.

He didn't kill batman. He turned him into a chibi and put him on his desk.

I can’t tell what’s scarier to Joker: Batman dying or how boring life will be after he’s gone
@stranger9847 Жыл бұрын
I think what's even worse is in his nightmare he doesn't even actually kill Batman Batman just slipped and fell and died. 😂

I like how they spinned the "employee joker" concept a bit more realistically, with him being TERRIBLE at being actually succesful at his work, but his charisma saves him from getting fired (that or insomnia just wants to play with him).
@virokyu Жыл бұрын
You'd actually be surprised that this happens more than you think. Had a manager at one of my old jobs, he'd supervise the rest of us, but ANYTIME he tried to help us out with work, he'd fuck it up. So this story is actually REALLY realistic

If this is the case. I wonder how Joker would do against Freddy Krueger. That would be a nice match up tbh

Now there's an idea. Fun fact, there's an incomplete NOES comic that Marvel released that was meant to tell Krueger's whole backstory.

Given the Joker is aware of the 4th wall and knows Batman's secret identity, he must have figured out this is a dream. This is likely a ploy to play dumb and boring to lull whoever is controlling this reality (Insomnia) into a false sense of security. He has also become aware of how his own mind is generating the nightmare which is why he separated himself from his gang and anything else from his old life. He kept the Batcorpse both because of his obsession as well as knowing the one controlling this reality would want to reanimate it to make a dramatic appearance. This way he knows he will have an assortment of kitchen knives, blunt objects, and other weapons to attack him with.

Tbf Joker's nightmare is actually horrifying. A life so mundane it makes your teeth itch and your bones feel brittle. Like a paper cut in your brain.
