Difference in the lighting too. Cloudy and gray = struggling to maintain sanity and play by the rules. Sunny and bright = letting go and surrendering to madness. It works. Reminded me a little of the ending of "Brazil".

It's not about sanity, the joker is super sane not insane. It's more about finding your place in society. You can tell he carries a weight on his shoulders going up the stairs as he's explaining how he doesn't know how he fits in. Then when he talks about how he realizes the way the world works and his role in it, the weight is lifted symbolized by dancing down the stairs that used to represent the weight of the world he felt like he was carrying, at least that's how I see it.

I got goosebumps at that same part! The music has sort of an opera feel which goes perfectly with the tragedy and comedy theme. I'm reminded of the tragedy and comedy masks from ancient Greece theater and clowns and the Charlie Chaplin... This was a beautiful trailer, I hope the movie is just as good.

The work and the acting in the trailer is amazing. His body language, all skinny an wrecked. How nice, weak and vulnerable he looks taking care of his mum and how scary and disturbed he is slowly becoming at the end while trying to overcome all this bad things happening. Its really touching and the music and colors (this bluish orange auras around him ) are beautiful.

This trailer itself is like a short movie. In the beginning, Arthur Fleck is crawling up the stairs in depression, but in the end, the Joker is dancing away on them. The last shot is brilliant, and it makes me wonder what exactly he did to be able to crack a smile.

The diference between choosing an actor or an extraordinary actor. Phoenix is a badass actor, and of course he could perform a great Joker, but the point in this movie was to know the writing and the plot. Looks like an origins movie but soooo dark, like DC used to be. I have goosebumps with this soundtrack and the trailer scary and disturbing too, I agree Erin.
