I think the opposite, Moondrop has made 2 over ear headphones and they were both kinda bad, but the fact that they are trying again and again makes me think that they wanna get good at making over ear headphones too. It will just take a while before they strike gold. If they really wanted to never get out of their comfort zone they would make iem's for eternity and count their money. And I'm happy they're not because I always liked over ear headphones more than iem's and would like to see Moondrop make a budget banger in that department

@hartyewh1 Жыл бұрын
You can't develop a product forever. Actually pushing to market asap is better even if the product isn't great. You learn about your customers, the product and so on and then you can start working on an improvement.
@jonix24mejor Жыл бұрын
@@hartyewh1 yeah, but that product development cost money, i dont see how just "learning" from it its a good business plan, also, i think is kind of obvious after watching that curve that the sound would not be that popular for people in general. I seen so many times now companys making just poor decisions out of the blue that i dont really believe the story that they know what they are doing (companys in general), so i just wonder, what really make them do It? You don't need any special market test, or expert, to know that a mediocre product is not going to be liked very much, at this point the only test they could be doing is to see if their customers will buy anything they launch no matter how mediocre it is.

What was wrong with the Aria Snow? (I might be biased since its the IEM I am using right now but still)
@jonix24mejor Жыл бұрын
@@ninjashuriken nothing "wrong" but also nothing actually "good", when i mentioned it i mean that it was a bad idea, not a bad product, cause Snow were different fron the normal Aria but most people did not like it better than the OGs (kind of more shouty, less bassy) so, moondrop could just basically launch the Arian snow with another name (like just plain Snow) and dont try to ride the fame train with the Aria name. Reviewers looked at it as a different, kind of worst tunned, Aria, cause the name was missleading, if you see reviews now, or ask for recomendations, most people dont even mention them, probably because of the bad rep of being "less good Aria" instead of a good $80 vocal centered IEM.

CAL! $50, portapro $35, KSC-75 $20, or any decent Superlux would blow these away. At $80 it's not much a stretch to $100 where there are more options as well. I don't think there is any saving these. You don't need that much shout to clearly monitor vocals
@KanyeWestFan69 Жыл бұрын
@@CammyFi really depends on the singer’s preference I’d say. Personally as a singer, I find many more neutral closed backs sounding a bit too muffled for comfortably monitoring my singing. The extra brightness and the mid range scoop can be quite useful to counteract the muffle. However this is only my guess and I haven’t tried joker at all.

Not so sure I agree with your take here. Personally, I feel like Moondrop is chasing the Sony MDR-7506 with this headphone. Tuning looks similar (DF-ish with mid bass bump), specs are similar, but prices undercuts the MDR by about 50%. I can see a world where a smaller studio would swap out their older MDRs for these but with half the costs.
@BryTe22 Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure about the tuning of the MDR but like what Timmy said. If you don't like bass then get an open back headphones. It will have a wider soundstage and less bass.
@synyska Жыл бұрын
for the folding thing with headphones, it really depends. because i've found even the most well built folding headphones tend to break easier than normal headphones. and when it comes to taking hi-fi $500+ headphones if im taking them with me its on a long ride or somewhere i have time to relax meaning i don't mind if its a bigger case to accommodate it not being able to fold
@rustyshakelford1466 Жыл бұрын
Most headphones have crappy hinge design with obviously weak stress points but you can make a quality folding mechanism. The Sony MDR-v6 and it's cousins have had folding hinges since the 90s and they last forever. Even the folding hinge in the portapro is good despite being made largely of plastic.

I've been thinking about this but I have to be sure; can't we use a multidriver system on over ear headphones? No I'm not talking about ba drivers, can't we just use 2 dynamic drivers in tandem to have a good sound signature? One would be a dedicated subwoofer and the other would cover the rest. Most budget headphones are either tuned to have 4db bass and messed up mids treble etc or somewhat good mids yet no bass at all. Or you can fuck it up and call it a gaming headset. I want to experiment on this.
@rustyshakelford1466 Жыл бұрын
Because headphones are a lot harder to tune/design than an IEM where you can just project sound directly into someone's ear canal. There are a lot more reflections and other physical interactions to account for. For one thing you can't just put drivers almost anywhere like with an IEM, they have to be pointed more or less directly at the ear for good sound, so doing that with multiple drivers is difficult.
@mehmetgurdal Жыл бұрын
@@rustyshakelford1466 so? We use 2 30 mm drivers stacked side by side. I'm not saying let's fill the earcup with drivers, those physical 7.1 headphones tried and failed at that already

Honestly, at $80 I’m trying to find a decent competitor. I should receive my set in a few days so I’ll wait to hear for myself, but the entire idea of headphones like this are to be “monitors”. I play in pit orchestras from time to time and if I can get away with open backs, I’ll take my HD650s to the gig, but they’re expensive and the build quality is really average for 5 times the $ of the joker. If they seal well, and aren’t too sibilant, they could be ideal for the scenario I think they are aiming this headphone at. You want vocal separation when playing musicals and usually in a pit it gets unruly (especially since most of the rhythm section will be DI’d except the drums).
