Not to kill the steering wheel bit lol but when you have a very expensive aftermarket steering wheel, you don't want to ruin it with the oil from your hands, therefore you wear gloves. Also they give you more grip when racing and help with comfort/protect you from calluses etc...

It’s intentionally handicapped by the government so that private companies can gain more market share. Right wing politicians claim that the postal system is expensive and inefficient, ignoring the fact that it’s a service, so of course it costs money. Paying for gas to transport yourself is also expensive, but for some reason they don’t think of it that way. They want everything about the government to be a profitable business venture for them.
