This type of coaching, wasting productive bigs on the bench, is one of the most damning things about this coaching staff in the Jokic era. If zeke isn’t going to play, and I don’t think he’s one of the hidden treasures like jay huff, he’s still a contract that needs to be moved and that means he needs to get run to entice other teams that he has value. I honestly don’t think Malone has gotten enough criticism over the years for this sort of stuff. We have had productive back up bigs here that have left and proven it. They’ve never been able to make it work with this bench, I really blame Malone for this. You can’t have this many problems with productive bigs wasting away or looking terrible here for it to be mere coincidence. Coaching staff should be doing whatever they can, and im not saying it’s easy, to make zeke look as good as possible so booth can ship him out of here for some sort of return that has value.

Completely agree with Adam’s frustrations about zeke. Malone has failed him just like he failed so many other talented players the nuggets have had. Hart, Huff, and Javalle are big bodies too .. why didn’t they play Malone?

It's pretty obvious why zeke isnt playing. It's because theyre in trade talks and dont want to risk injury

You might be onto something.........but players usually get traded around the trade deadline which is February of next year. That's when teams are super careful about players' health and not risk any injuries. So Zeke is gonna rot on our bench for 3+ months before he may even be traded? And that's not guaranteed either if there's no trade market for him especially since he's not even playing any significant minutes. I just highly doubt Zeke gets moved this year. And it makes no sense he's not playing especially when Saric is looking like he's unplayable and DaRon Holmes is out for the season. There's really no other option at backup big. DJ should never be considered our backup center, but our 3rd string center or absolutely the last resort at center.

it’s amazing to me how these guys cover every single game of every single Nuggets season yet just completely have their memories wiped before the start of a new year. Zeke is not some mystery player, he’s not a Jay Huff who never played here and never got a shot. He’s played quite a bit! It’s been 4 years! We know who he is! He’s as known to us as Deandre Jordan is. I’m fine giving him a shot cause why not but let’s be serious please - this is not something to be upset over lol.

It's whatever at this point. It's just crazy that against a tanking, injured Jazz, Zeke only played 4 minutes behind Hunter Tyson and DeAndre Jordan. I don't mind in this particular game because it was a blowout. But against REAL opponents, those guys cannot defend and both Hunter and DJ are not rotational players you can just throw out there and be relied upon. Zeke is better and more versatile player than DJ and Hunter.

@@paulhiniker2489 I hope so. I will say Tyson does have the size to not be a complete black hole on defense, standing at 6’8” with a 6’10” wingspan. I think he just gets blown by too easily and sometimes get lost on defense. But as long as he doesn’t get beat initially, he should be able to hold his own defensively.

Malone said that he played DJ because of the Jazz bigs. If I have to guess mainly Walker Kessler. I look at it as "matchup" dependent. Zeke can't consistently play against the bigger centers in the league because he would just get out rebounded and foul out by them. However, I also think it's an excuse because Zeke only played 4 minutes. Matchup dependent or not, there's no way Malone could not find ways to play Zeke against an injured, tanking Jazz. I view Zeke as a forward not a center. And Malone has not pair Zeke with another big for a while. Whenever he does play, he plays with a bench that sucks and doesn't have an identity. This year should be better because Vlatko Cancar is healthy this season and there's also Dario Saric who can be used if Malone ever figures out how to utilize him. DJ has more size and is a better rebounder than Zeke, but that doesn't mean DJ is a better player.
