I have one since 1996! With an extra opposite door build in and an extra, all covering groundsheet. I never felt sorry for one day! It never felt uncomfortable (if you adjust everything well to each unique situation you're in)! I some cases, when condensation is expected in between groundsheet and bottom of the inner tent, I use a fleece blanket that will provide enough insulation and ventilation to not let moist in between the sheets and inside the inner tent on the floor! And the extra door is truly a wonderful addition! When ventilating, but even more hwen the wind direction suddenly changes, the only thing you have to do is close one door and open the other!. Also nice when try and catching the sun!😊

I have the 2 people version without GT. I have had it for 10 years now and it still looks and works like new. Always used it with the official footprint. Incredibly durable and reliable. Would recommend it to anyone who don't mind the weight (there are lighter tents in similar size) but prioritize peace of mind in any weather condition, anywhere.

Really good review. I own this tent and agree with everything explained here. I had the Nammatj 2GT but sold that ( for approximately the same as it cost) when I realised the 3GT was significantly wider and allowed an additional 4” headroom for just 400g more.

Great video. Your cold weather and winter experience really makes any information you give invaluable to anyone looking to buy a tent such as these. I recently bought a Staika after many hours of viewing yours and others videos and in the end at 6ft 4" tall, I felt the Nammatj was just slightly too short for me, although even in the Staika my feet touch the inner tent! However, I'm really pleased with the Staika for all round solo use or occasionally in company with another, but I too would go for the Keron if I was on any extended trip with another in serious conditions. Thanks! Staika is a great tent!!! I had one some years ago but when we got a Allak we sold the Staika. ...sometimes I miss it but you know... If you have to much stuff the stuff starts to own you... Had my 3GT for 15 years now. Awesome tent. I 182cm and sleep always a little diagonal. I buy the 3gt for using it for 2 persons. Have use it all year around in Norrbotten, fantastic tent to put up in complete darkness, try to spare my batteries as much as possible and only use it when i really need it. A good tip to not lose the bottomsticks is to connect them with a lope, if its blow or you break the tent in the night you dont lose your ankarsticks. Really good review.

Great review! I own the green version for several years now. One tip: I use it in combination with a Hilleberg tarp, which I put up on top of the tent. It gives you some extra shelter and when raining it keeps the entrance dry. Another advantage is the extra shadow provided in summer keeping the tent a bit cooler. Regarding ventilation: the mosquito nets provide insufficient airflow. I always keep them a bit open; especially in summer.

I have 2 Hilleberg tents and had the same issue with the string within the poles. Emailed Hilleberg and they sent med new strings without charge. Nice customer service! Took me10minutes to change per tent.

We have the 2GT since 1997, camped a lot throughout the whole of Europe. The only thing we replaced was the floor of the innertent as it started to leak thanks to all the rocks we camped on. The rest is still working as designed, very happy with it!

Really nice review. About the elastic cord. There was a production glitch a few years back. Just send them an email and they will send you replacement cord for free. That was what I did. Last year I had a small accident with one of the poles. I leaned on it too much (was extremely windy Bft 9 gusty to 10). They send me a free replacement section. I really love Hilleberg.

The Nammatj come with the Y-shaped pegs as per all the Black label tents (Red get U-shaped). My Nammatj 2 GT came with 22 pegs - one for every potential peg out point - which I thought was quite generous considering how stingy other manufacturers are. People seem to rag on Hilleberg pegs but they’re perfectly decent, maybe not quite the holding power of 8” Eastons but more than useable if you’re on soil. Of course in proper winter/snow conditions you want snow pegs, deadman bags, skis, axes etc.

I have a Nammatj 3. I did replace the default pegs with titanium ones. The ti pegs are more reliable in very rocky ground, and in frozen ground with no snow cover. Of course the Hilliberg pegs still get some occasional use as well.

Everything I've seen/read/watched about this tent is FAVORABLE. You did an excellent job explaining about the HIGH resale value of any & all Hilleberg tents. Sadly, you forgot to mention Hilleberg's world class CUSTOMER SERVICE which is as good as it gets. It should also be mentioned there is a good 9-12 months wait list for their tents. Moosejaw, here in America, has the largest inventory of Hilleberg tents & would be your best bet to buy the tent you want today.

Very good video, I appreciate your thoroughness. I was wondering how good is the ventilation in that tent for summer time use. Here in Canada where I am the temperatures can go from maximum of 40c down to -40c. The two tents I am looking at are the Nammatj/Nallo and the Keron/Kaitum. My main concern with the Nammatj/Nallo is that the rear vent will not let in enough airflow to stay cool (I am aware of the netted inner available, but not sure it would help that much). Cheers!

The advantage of using Keron/Kaitum is that you can open one door on each side as a compliment to the ventilation. I guess you don't have the rain at the same time as you have the need of extra ventilation. /Matti

187cm here and never had a problem with condensation (with nallo 3gt same as this nammtj). I usually put some stuff at the back to raise the height of the the mosquito net. I guess somebody taller "195cm" ... It may become not so easy to fit in.

In case my last comment failed. 2 anti condensation tips. 1.keep doir zip open a little at top. Clothes peg helps. 2. Use loops at outside door ends for 4, small, extra guy lines.

Somebody tested the mounb of effort required to pull out v pegs . With the pointed end d facing the tent as you instruct, it took half the effort to pull the peg out of the ground compared to pointed end facing away.

I have had a Nammatj 3 for 10 years. It is a great tent, but not perfect. One limitation is the heavily sloped back has been flattened by VERY heavy snowfall. I am glad to report that the Kerlon1800 fabric withstood that without issue. But, it did reduce the inner tent area.The other issue I would mention is that it is not freestanding. So, it cannot be easily pitched on say a solid rock surface. If I were buying again I might opt for a freestanding tent with more vertical sides which Hilleberg does offer in their black label line. Having said that, the Nammatj has been a great tent, and has a lot of life left in it at this point. I will continue to use it in all weathers including snow storms.

Great and informative video as always. I’m just getting into winter camping on the fjell and looking for a suitable tent to use solo. Since I am 195cm tall I’m considering a Kaitum 2, but maybe I should go for a Keron 3 instead to get the stronger weave and poles? That’s a heavy tent for solo trips, even though I’m tall with all that muscle 😉 What do you think, would a red label to it? Or is a black label necessary wintertime in the Scandinavian mountain range? Since I’m going solo I will keep close and take refuge in fjällstugor if there is a proper storm incoming. En kompis har Nammatj 2 men jag tycker att det är lite lågt i innertältet när jag sitter på liggunderlaget. That's a kind of enjoying project... 😀 One way of doing that is to use a second rope (tiny and not flexible) and use that first. You pull that through and attach this to the elastic rope and then pull the elastic through. I'm going to change this on some of the tents and can make a video at the same time. /Matti

Looks good. I have some Hillberg tents, one of them my Nallo2 started leaking in the innertent floor after not so much use and it was then 7 years old, it really sucks water, disappointing... When my girlfriend and I go for hiking in the mountains we have used her Helsport Fjellheimen Pro3 GT which is a very similar model to Nammatj. But we consider a new Hilleberg to replace it, because all the details on Hilleberg is so much more thought throu. Helsport is good but Hilleberg experience is closer to outstanding. But we want a tent this time which can be opened on each side of the vestibule on the GT-version, it's really bad when the weather and direction of hard wind changes and goes in the door. I think some Hilleberg models can also be rolled open in front on the GT's, that look really good. We might also want the inner wall(foot end) of innertent to be vertical.

Sorry to hear about your leaking floor. 7 years is not much for a Hilleberg. Did you ask Hilleberg? Maybe it was some material problems? I haven't heard about that before... Of course when it's really old once like a Staika I had that was 20+. I also know that Hilleberg had the service that you could ge a new floor or just a new inner tent. Hellsport is also good tents. I haven't tested them. I think you should look at HB Keron GT or HB Kaitum GT. /Matti

I was in contact with Hilleberg regarding the leaking floor summer 2017 when I discovered this, but they said that to send it to Sweden was problematic because of customs and costs, but they had contact with a company in Norway who could look at and fix my tent and I wrote email to this comapny but was disappointed by the answer which gave me a feeling that most certainly i would have to take the cost myself for a new floor, and that would be expensive. They could not give any guarantee it would be covered by Hilleberg(the cost of repair). So...my beautiful Nallo2 is now just lying there in the closet and has been so since summer 2017, never used it since because I don't want to spend money on a footprint because it's rather old and I will not buy a new Nallo2.

I can’t answer for Hilleberg, but after 7 years ( 12 years now 🤔 ) I doubt any company will take it as a warranty. To change the floor is cheaper than to buy a new inner tent. From what you’re describing that you are looking for; Kaitum GT.

Hi Matti, I have the Nammatj 3, the regular one. I really like the tent but now I use it mainly as a one person tent I can sleep partly diagonally since I am 1m 81 cm. Its 3,3 kg witch is still a bit much but better than the 4,1 kg the extended version is. In a lmulti day winter trip I wouldnt use this tent for the same reasons that you say, but for a short trip like one or two nights its ok. Bought it in the spring 1997 and the first serious trip was to Jokkmokk and Sarek with my to be wife. We met in Peru 1995, then she came to visit me, we spent 4 days in Stockholm and 9 days in the Jokkmokk area. That show whats important to me...(we spent about one week im my home area).

I always have a problem with tents. all tents seems to be too short, even for me with just 182cm length. The walls are always leaning to low. But something I cannot fathom. A winter tent without storm flaps. It not a big deal for most, but It surprises me how many who really doesn't even take that into consideration when getting a tent for winter use.

The tent is constructed to take the force in the ropes and not in the fabric (storm matts). It is a great video! I almost bought this tent, but after you mentioned the size issue. I am 182 cm. I started looking for a different tent and I found Fjallraven Abisko Shape 3 which I like even more (much lighter, better ventilation and cheaper) however it has the same size issue. I want to a store to check it. As I really want to buy Abisko Shape 3 now I started wondering how big it is an issue if the sleeping bag touches the inner tent, but it does not touch the outer tent. I even contacted Fjallraven and they recommended to use rain jacket, but buying an expensive tent to use to that trick does not make sense. Does this size issue really that big one? Will it always make my sleeping bag wet? Thanks for your great video!

If your sleeping bag gets wet during winter it will freeze up and the insulation won’t work as designated. You don’t want that to happen on an extended hike. In the other part of the year it is not that big issue. You can dry your bag in the sun. For your length a Nammatj might just work. Especially In the winter you want to keep your feet warm and your jacket or even your backpack will help with that. It is worth checking out the Kaitum models as well before you decide. I use the enan on a scottish winter mounrain top if the wind forecast is low. Otherwie nammatj. (Re the nammatj: if there is one tent for everything, this is it. And it will probably outlive you.
