That shawl is a tribute to the lyricist Jashimuddin, the famous folklore poet. He often wore this type of shawls.

you are just awesome 👏🏻 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️

Arnob is the producer of the show and probably the brains behind the show (in collaboration with a lot of talented artists of course). As a composer, he is second to none in the country. If you ever get a chance, check out his songs Tomar Jonno (the Arnob and Friends version), Prokrito Jal, Lukiye, Tui Ki Janish Na (Part 1 and 2) and his Tagore covers Megh Bolechhe and Majhe Majhe Tobo.

Thank you so much. Emotion is not a bad thing in life. Your emotion make us enjoy and appreciate this song even more. One of our mighty river in Bangladesh is called Podda or Padma river. The Padma enters Bangladesh from India near Nawabganj and meets the Jamuna (Bengali: যমুনা Jamuna) near Aricha and retains its name, but finally meets with the Meghna (Bengali: মেঘনা) near Chandpur and adopts the name "Meghna" before flowing into the Bay of Bengal. Part of the river during monsoon is like an ocean. One can get lost. For me this song is about that lost feelings for all of us in front of vast unpredictable nature or fate of our lives. These rivers of Bangladesh are natural gift to us but they can also be cause of pain during floods or cyclones. So emotion in lead singer's voice is nothing but a lost person cry for hope through music.

This is known as Bhatiyali song, it's a bengali folk song ,Bhatiyali is a genre of music introduced by the River boat sailors, the flow of lyrics and the music and the tune resembles the flow of the water in a river....it's a very popular song by a popular poet Jasimuddin. 🙏

Just imagine, you are on a boat and its floating slowly. Just you and the boatman are there, no people is there. And suddenly the boatman singing this song, and you are just enjoying the calmness of this song and the atmosphere of the river. Just imagine....

Arnob said right - you're one of us. Music has no language, you're a true example. You didn't have to understand the lyrics to have tears in your eyes. From a Bengali who misses his bengla roots alot. ❤️

In this song the river is considered as a struggling life. This kind of comparison between rural life and nature made Jashimuddin as a "Pollikobi"

Though the song depicts a massive turbulent river as if it has no shore (and it really happens during monsoon season here in Bangladesh), it tells a person's journey on a shaky boat during a thunderstorm in turbulent rive but also depicts metaphorically a person's uncertain journey of his life. Poet is confused about where could be his destination! He (Poet) wonders if he can experience his gracious Almighty God once he reaches the shore. Perhaps a spiritual journey on a shaky boat through a turbulent river. Surprisingly this has not been mentioned in the description.

Hello Jola, The people of Bangladesh countryside usually wear shawl (Chadar) with pajama (trouser) and Punjabi (korta). Rural poet Jasim Uddin used to wear a shawl. This is a good idea of the participants to remember the poet and evoke the rural environment. The German clarinet and Bengali flute's melodious sad tone made you emotional. The universal language of music has helped you to connect with this folk song. Stay in touch with bangla pastoral music.

This song depicts a boatman who is rowing his boat on a mighty river in a dark stormy night. He can’t see the banks or bends of the river, he doesn’t know where he is going, what his fate will be. In flashes of lightning he can se the shore for a moment but in the next second he’s lost again. He’s crying out for help to bring his boat to the shore to an unknown guide who can help him navigate, and help him find God.
