Hello, I am the owner of an xt660z, and as we all know the suspension is not good, I am thinking of changing forks and I would like to ask you several questions, could you tell me which bike the fork and seatposts come from? Have you had any problem mounting them? Is the new geometry of the bike okay? Thanks for your attention!
@playsatan24 жыл бұрын
I see you replaced the forks and wheels on the XT660z. Could you please advise what donor bike you took them from, what was involved with the conversion and was it worth it for the performance gains. Excellent video BTW. Thanks.
@JolanNC294 жыл бұрын
Hi, it's not my bike but the forks are from a KTM 640 ADV. There was quite a weigh saving and the fork was adjustable. It was quite a pain to install. I remember that he would not do it again as it remains a relative heavy bike. If you are planning to keep the bike for a long period of time it might be worth the hassle.
@playsatan24 жыл бұрын
@@JolanNC29 Many thanks. Weight saving was my main motivation but better adjustability would be nice also. I'll do some research into parts availability and price.

Great video. Looks like an excellent route. I have a 660z also. Is it a difficult bike to do a TET on? I see you have soft panniers. Do you think it would be unwise to do that route with hard panniers? Would love to try the TET maybe next year.
@JolanNC296 жыл бұрын
The right bike is always difficult to answer. It depends on your skill, if your new to riding offroad, a lighter bike will be easier and more enjoyable. But I have seen people on KZbin doing the most insane stuff on big GS and KTM's as well. With our amateur skill level the 660 is perfect for 90% of the route in England, I can't speak for other parts in Europe. Some small sections we skipped or detoured because of the difficulty. I do recommend going with someone else. About the luggage...we "like" crashing as you can see,. As a result I like soft panniers because they take the impact better and are less likely to be destroyed in a fall and are more easy to repair if necessary. But everything is possible with the right mindset and expectations.
